Most believe Frederick would have been available in the 2nd. Jerry quickly pointed out Detroit would have taken Frederick. Again, that came from Jerry so take it for what it's worth.

I like Frederick, a lot actually. I just never thought we'd take him in the 1st. I also never thought we would help out the NFC Champs in a trade down. I should have.

I wouldn't doubt if Detroit would have taken him, even if it was Jerry stating it. I could very well see the Lions taking Fred.

How exactly did we help out SF? They didnt trade up for free. it cost them a middle pick in the 3rd rd, which we turned into a very talented WR. And they are deserperate for WR help now.

By every measurement used in the NFL, except Jerry's new secret internal trade chart, we got beat in that trade.

SF even said they weren't that interested in trading up but felt they couldn't pass up such a good deal.

We got beat by like 33 points in that trade.

By some of the charts it looks like we should have got a late 1st and late 2nd. We got a late 1st and early half of 3rd. It isnt that big of a deal.

The right thing to have done was force SF to throw in another later pick. That said, the trade "value" chart was blown for the draft as soon as Oakand made the deal they did.

The chart is a guide, it isnt the Bible. Value is determined by what someone is willing to pay. We didnt want to pick where we were and wanted something extra to move down. We ended up with two pretty good prospects instea dof just one (had we not made the deal). SF got what they wanted when they were able to get a potential starting calibar S. We got a 2 for 1 deal and seem to have picked up quality players with those picks. We didnt "lose"

SF even said they weren't that interested in trading up but felt they couldn't pass up such a good deal.

Like the year before, when we got a great deal to move up for Claiborne?

Thought it was more but even so, do you want to be getting the worse part of the deal with the team you will most likley need to go through to win the NFC?

How exactly did we get the "worse" part of the deal? Because of points? Pts on a trade chart doesnt mean much on game days.

It would have been a loss had we drafted guys like Kavika Pittman and Clay Shiver (Washington trade down, 1996) but seemed to have landed two pretty good prospects. SF gave up the opportunity to land another WR by doing that deal, and they seem fairly desperate for WR help.

I think getting two out three right isn’t bad. My issue has always been having him rated so high and not following the chart.

Wow. You are off the charts. By way more than 33 points.

So is it open season on disappointing rookies now? Cause I think we have a certain 2nd round TE who looks like hot shit.

But I suppose it's too early to tell on him right?

Nope. Def not pep. He does look like shit.

But it's the complete opposite. This board has been hammering the Mexican for weeks. So if its not too early to label the Mexican a bum, which he is at the moment. Then it shouldn't be too early to give credit to Fred.

I'll give credit to Fred. He looks good. But I'm not ready to declare the trade down a brilliant move because Floyd got injured.

That's what I said. Even if Floyd is good, it's still the right move. OL>>>>>DT. And DT is a HUGE need. Floyd has to be a huge difference maker for the trade to b a fail

Exactly, pep. I can't call ignoring your draft board "brilliant".

Most injuries are just luck, and Floyd's was very minor anyway. If Fred blows an ACL week 2, does that make him a bad pick? Not at all.

The only reason that may be even partly true is because Detroit took an OL in the 3rd round.

Still, that says nothing about where they would have taken Frederick.

The Cowboys were in desperate need of interior OL help. And they got it.

Had the Cowboys made trades that left them +33 in trade value points, but not addressed the OL need, the team would have been screwed.

Look, everybody prefers BPA in theory, but when your back is against the wall at the end of the day, you damn well better get what you need.
