The Cowboys were in desperate need of interior OL help. And they got it.

Had the Cowboys made trades that left them +33 in trade value points, but not addressed the OL need, the team would have been screwed.

Look, everybody prefers BPA in theory, but when your back is against the wall at the end of the day, you damn well better get what you need.

Not sure why nobody else gets this. Same people would be hammering this team if we didn't address the OL in the draft, and rightfully so. OL way by far the biggest need. We reached and it worked.

Consider what Floyd would be doing.

Get the injury thing out of your head.

If Jay Ratliff doesn't start against the Giants, we have Hayden starting at DT.

Still sound like a stroke of genius?

I don't have a big deal with the pick now as it looks like Frederick is doing great.

But to pretend we were especially smart at this stage is foolhardy.

Wow. You are off the charts. By way more than 33 points.

And your off the charts wth what "pillaged" means.

Not getting an extra 5th rd pick isn't being "pillaged"

We got shorted, but not the way some of you are acting.

I'll give credit to Fred. He looks good. But I'm not ready to declare the trade down a brilliant move because Floyd got injured.

That isn't the main reason it'd be a potential win for us anyway. If Fred is really good (and it appears he is a quality starter already) and Terrance Williams pans out, we won. 2 good players >>>>> 1

Unless its when we gave up two players for Claiborne. Then it's definitely 1 player >>>>2 players. Go Cowboys!!!!!!

Obviously depends on the particulars. We may end up losing bigtime on that deal, no doubt. Claiborne has to be really good.

LOL

Enjoy this micro-victory while we sputter through another disappointing season on the whole.

Even with the moves you mention, we have two viable OL players total and 2.5 viable DL starters now

Tyron, Leary, and Fred all seem viable. Free has looked decent. We should have taken another OL in round 2 instead of another fucking tight end.

Claiborne so far hasn't been worth the trade, but it's still early.

I thought he was better than Brockers last yr, not sure he would be considered better than Brockers and Wagner combined. But we didn't really need a LB anyway.

Nobody can really argue that we don't need a quality C and big play WR who can potentially replace Miles Austin and his cap number soon.

Yeah, imagine interior OL of Fred, flanked by Leary (assuming he is healthy and can really play) and Warford

It may end up being a win, I'm not arguing that.

But the thread's premise is that we made a "brilliant" move based on Floyd's sporadic playing because of his knee injury.... basically calling him a bust that we dodged. Way too early to claim that.

I'm not saying I wouldn't do it. I'm saying if someone is against intra division deals I can understand.
