Micheal Bennett is apparently close to signing in Miami.

Really curious what he gets.

I'd rather Kenny Phillips be in Philly than NY.

He's a decent player, and I think Philly will suck for a while, whereas the Giants could continue to contend for the division.

The Atlanta Falcons agreed to a three-year contract with free-agent running back Steven Jackson on Thursday, the team announced on its Twitter account.

The Falcons had released running back Michael Turner, the team's starter last season, before the start of free agency.

As expected, Jackson voided his contract with the St. Louis Rams on Thursday, making the 29-year-old an unrestricted free agent. He said last week that he wanted to start for whichever team he signed with in free agency.

"For where I'm at, going into Year 10, I'm not ready to step back and just become a primary backup or a reduced-role guy to be part of a running back by committee," Jackson said on Sirius XM NFL Radio last week. "I still have a lot left in my tank. I still have a lot left to offer to a team. We're not talking about someone that's in Year 12 or 13."

Jackson negotiated for the chance to opt out of his contract at the end of last season with one year left on the deal.

He stands at 10,135 yards and needs 2,144 yards to equal Marshall Faulk, who Jackson replaced with the Rams, to get into the top 10.

Jackson also has 3,324 career receiving yards, including 38 receptions and 321 yards last season.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Jackson has rushed for at least 1,000 yards in eight straight seasons. According to ESPN Stats & Information, only three players in NFL history have a longer streak of consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons than Jackson's current run: Emmitt Smith (11 from 1991-01), Curtis Martin (10 from 1995-04) and Barry Sanders (10 from 1989-98). All are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Tampa Bay grabs former Cowboys WR Kevin Ogletree

For the second time in three days, the Cowboys lost a player with ties to the University of Virginia.

First they bid adieu to tight end John Phillips, who left for San Diego on Tuesday. Then, on Thursday, they waved goodbye to wide receiver Kevin Ogletree after he finalized a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In Tampa, Ogletree will be reunited with John Garrett, the former Cowboys tight ends coach who was hired in January to supervise the Buccaneers’ wideouts.

Last season, Ogletree made 32 catches for 436 yards and four touchdowns, winning the No. 3 receiver position before being gradually marginalized as the season progressed. Ogletree had offered signs that he could have a breakout season in 2012 after catching eight passes for 114 yards and scoring two touchdowns in a victory over the New York Giants in the Cowboys’ first game.

But Ogletree, who was re-signed last March to a one-year, $640,000 contract, remained the inconsistent player he had been since he joined Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2009. In the Cowboys’ final eight games, seven of which he played, Ogletree made only eight catches for 92 yards and one touchdown.

With Tampa Bay, Ogletree will have a chance to make a fresh start and jumpstart a career that has languished thus far. The Cowboys, meanwhile, are expected to fill Ogletree’s spot with Dwayne Harris, who contributed 17 catches for 222 yards and one touchdown last season.

“Harris showed us something last year as an example of a third receiver,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said last month.

I understand that we have no cap room but why aren't we at least visiting/talking with free agents? We may find someone willing to come to big D and then we can cut Vickers, Free, etc to free up the room to sign him. I don't understand why we aren't working around the clock to get Spencer and Romo signed to cap friendlier deals. Even if we don't get it done I'd like the know that this Front Office is doing everything possible to improve this roster.

Reeks of 2009 when we didn't contact a single free agent. I seriously don't get what goes through Jerry Jones' head.

I think there's been a few players names come up in regards to us. Nobody earth shattering obviously.
