lol at the Colts. If I were Manning I'd just retire or force them to release me.

Reports: Colts interview Jim Tressel
ESPN.com news services

Colts owner Jim Irsay flew to Florida on Friday and while there discussed the team's head-coaching job with former Ohio State Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel for a second time, according to reports.

Tressel, who resigned in May after an NCAA scandal that enveloped the Ohio State football program, was hired by former Colts coach Jim Caldwell in September to be a game-day consultant in a role that allowed him to work from the team's coaches booth and advise Caldwell about replay reviews.

Tressel didn't begin his duties until the seventh game of the season.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said he would have suspended Tressel if the Colts didn't make him sit out games to start the 2011 season.

On Friday morning, Irsay flew to Sarasota, Fla., where Tressel owns a home, according to the Indianapolis Star, and according to WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio, a second interview was conducted.

Irsay has gutted the Colts' front office and coaching staff after their 2-14 season, and Caldwell was fired Tuesday, two days before eight assistant coaches were let go.

Jeff Saturday is retiring as well. The team is in a rebuilding stage. He won't be the QB in 2012.

I just hope Manning retires and the Skins have no shot at him. Manning has nothing left to prove.

He'll be in the hall of fame.

Dennis Allen to get second interview with Raiders
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 23, 2012, 12:12 PM EST

Getty ImagesWe may now have a new favorite for the Raiders head coaching job.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen will have a second interview with Oakland. The interview will take place in Mobile, Alabama at the Senior Bowl.

Allen also interviewed with the Rams. It’s believed he’ll be the first candidate to speak for a second time with the Raiders. Marty Mornhingweg and Winston Moss were also believed to be strong candidates for the Oakland job.

Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers was also expected to meet with the Raiders

I hope the Redskins give a King's Ramson for him. If the Rainders would give up a 1st and 2nd for Palmer, then how much should Manning command?

Colts hired former Ravens defensive coordinator as head coach.

Pagano isn't known to have any history with new GM Ryan Grigson, so the Colts' coaching search appears to have been approached with an open mind. Pagano's 2011 Ravens defense ranked third in the NFL in yards allowed, fourth against the pass, and second versus the run. Pagano runs a hybrid 4-3/3-4 and is likely to remake Indianapolis' defense. He'll likely look to hire a quarterback-focused offensive coordinator to work with Andrew Luck. It's perhaps worth noting that Hue Jackson was on Baltimore's staff with Pagano in 2008 and 2009.

[h=2]Report: Bucs plan to hire Schiano[/h]
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 26, 2012, 10:23 AM EST

It looks like the Bucs will hire a surprising college name to be their next head coach after all.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Bucs plan to hire Rutgers coach Greg Schiano. The two sides are reportedly putting on the “finishing touches” on Schiano’s contract.

Of course, the Bucs were also planning to hire Oregon coach Chip Kelly at one point. They were trying to finalize that contract, but it didn’t happen. Schiano looks less likely to have a last minute change of heart.

WDAE in Tampa first reported the Bucs’ interest in Schiano on Thursday. The Bucs’ other “finalist” for the head coaching job was Mike Sherman, who Schefter reports is now talking to the Dolphins about their offensive coordinator job.

The Bucs searched far and wide for the next head coach. A recommendation from Bill Belichick reportedly help Schiano’s case.

Schiano couldn’t be more different from Kelly in his coaching philosophy. Kelly is wildly aggressive and inventive. Schiano is much more conservative and prides himself on discipline. He once coached under Dave Wannstedt, and the two men seem to share a lot of philosophical ideas.

It’s impossible to tell what college coaches can translate success to the NFL level, but this likely won’t be a popular hire in Tampa. Schiano went 9-4 in 2011 after an ugly 4-8 season in 2010.

Schefter reports Schiano also interviewed with the Rams this offseason.

I dont know how he'll do in the pros, but I have always liked Shiano.

It's hard to judge college coaches if they don't have any coaching experience in the NFL. You just have to go off of their history in college.

Not comparing him to Jimmy in no way, but look how Jimmy made the transition.

He's a good recruiter, leader, and motivator . His players have all exceeded expectations in the pros. He likes taking DB's and making them LB's. Taking LB's and making them DE's. They force turnovers and get after the QB. Block kicks and they all hold the ball very high and tight. Uncanny how disciplined they are doing that.

Not good in game adjustments.

Hes like an Andy Reid

Todd Bowles is the new secondary coach for the eagles.

Turned down the Oakland dc position for the eagles secondary position.

Eagles get stronger again. We might be miles behind the eagles and giants by the time this offseason is over.

We migth be, then again we might not be.

Ugrade the interior OL, get another pass rusher and another DB or two and we are in just as good of shape as either of them are.

sure, but we have been saying that for 4 years. These are the exact positions we can never draft.

and the giants and eagles kicked our ass 3 times this year.

so they are better talent wise, have better coaches and already beat us.

clearly we are behind where they are at this moment. I dont think there is anymore to it than that.

Funny how in 2008, the Eagles did the same to us as well as the Giants. Then the folliwing year in 2009, we beat the Eagles 3 times, and won the division. I mean since we are talking about HISTORY right?

8-8. With all they did last year. I'm sure Bowles was the missing piece.

different team. that 09 team was still very good.

its 3 years later.

the giants swept us in 09 and again in 2011. We have not beat the eagles starters since the playoff game in 09.

there rosters have improved and we have not.

I really dont see what the argument is.
