So glad we got T New back.. think i'd rather still have Frank Walker on the outside.
Not mad about his holding penalty in the end zone?

At least he was contesting the play.. more than can be said of Newman on CJ's TD to take the lead.

He cost the team the points with an unnecessary penalty. It was a stupid play.
And the team had Megatron in single coverage on Newman's play for a reason at that point in the game. It's not like anybody expected TNew to jump another foot higher and knock that ball down. For Christ's sake.

Eh. Johnson is like 10'2 with that leaping ability and wingspan. Newman had good coverage, just not much you can do as a DB on plays like that other than maybe tackle him.
Dez has done the same thing quite a bit too. They are just so big and powerful, and have great athletic skill on those types plays. Its impossible to defend 1 on 1.
Newman has played quite well since he came back.
Newman did not get pick on by the Lions...he has been good since he came back, he is one of the least of our worries.
So the answer is Frank Walker, RTH?
C'mon man.
Your opinion is that Walker hasn't played well for us?
Its not the fact that he got beat.. most corners in that situation with even a decent pass by Stafford would get beat. Its the fact that Newman NEVER sees the damn ball coming. He never turns to try and make a play on it before it gets to CJ, which is really the only chance you have of stopping him, and its what Jenkins tried to do on CJ's first TD and almost was able to tip the ball away. You have to at least see the ball, especially when you read a fade and its only a yard out of the endzone. Its not like you should have to turn and run with the WR at that point, you need to see the ball or there's little chance of doing anything to stop it.
Not well enough to replace Newman, no.
RtH, you really don't know what you're talking about when it comes to CBs.
Walker gave the Lions a fresh set of downs on 3rd and goal inside of two minutes. That set of downs was the difference between the Lions tying the score and putting up a 4 point lead. It was one of the worst plays in the game, though nobody wants to talk about it because of Romo's awful picks.
With the fresh set of downs, with 1:45 or so left, the team put Newman in single coverage on CJ, begging them to throw it because an unsuccessful running down there actually hurts the Cowboys. At the snap, Newman's read is to confirm that it's not a running play. When he reads pass, he goes out and contests the pass. There's nothing else he can do there, and he played it *exactly* right.
I'm not going to debate it with you. Walker gave the winning points up on that series, and Newman played well. If you don't want to believe it, listen to what the head coach had to say about that play in his Monday press conference.
He got thrown at and had more completions against than Ball or Jenkins did. Call it what you'd like.
That is what is going to happen when you draw the #1 WR. Although we did play zone quite a bit. Calling for Frank Walker is silly.
Walker made a mistake.. we already agree about this. It was horrible timing for his first big mistake here in Dallas.. but it didn't put points on the board as you say.
I've already gone over the Newman play and won't rehash it again. Bottom line.. you have to see the ball. If you're telling me that's not true and that he played it exactly right, you'd have alot of DB coaches from the high school level to the NFL calling you an idiot. That is all.
It's cute, because you don't know how much you don't know. And you're not at all shy about demonstrating it.
