I don't see how Washington could trade up.

Not only do they lack picks, but quite frankly, they lack talent on the roster they can trade. And I dont' think they'd trade Orakpo or Williams.

Exactly. They have no fire power, unless they plan on giving up next years picks.

Their good for that.

They still think they can trade McNabb and Haynesworth. Many are expecting at worse a 3rd round pick for McNabb, and a 4th for Haynesworth.

There is no way McNabb nets more than a 5th. Maybe a conditional 4th at the very best.

I'd be surprised if they get anything for him. It'd make more sense to simply wait the Redskins out. Because everyone knows that the Redskins will not pay McNabb $16 million for being on their roster on opening day.

Report: Ryan Mallett in play for Redskins at No. 10 overall

Report: Ryan Mallett in play for Redskins at No. 10 overall

Citing a source “extremely close to the Washington Redskins,” NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi reported on Path to the Draft Monday evening that Mike Shanahan’s club has legitimate first-round interest in Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett.

Specifically, Lombardi asked the source about Shanahan’s targets with the tenth pick in the draft. The source told Lombardi, “Don’t rule out Ryan Mallett” becoming Shanny’s next franchise quarterback.

Perhaps more interestingly — and slightly more believably — Lombardi also mentioned that he’s sold on Mallett being a top-20 overall pick after speaking to folks around the league.

“I’m convinced he’ll go in the first round,” said Lombardi, predicting Mallett will land “Somewhere between 1 and 20.”

Mallett might go in the top 20 (Vikings? Dolphins? Jaguars?), but in our opinion, he’s not going to be a Redskin. Shanahan might be intrigued by Mallett’s big arm, but he wouldn’t fit the head coach’s decades-long track record with athletic passers.

Jake Locker or Christian Ponder make a hell of a lot more sense for the Redskins than lead foot Mallet.

I don't buy this.

I'm hoping and praying they take him. He has bust written all over him in my eyes.

Good. We will be picking him off for years.

Wait, nevermind, we don't have adequate Safeties.

Redskins hold a player-organized practice

Redskins hold a player-organized practice

Posted by Mike Florio on April 19, 2011, 4:58 PM EDT

After the strikes of 1982 and 1987, the Washington Redskins capped each season with a Super Bowl title. Coach Joe Gibbs attributed the success to the willingness of the players to work together during the work stoppage.

It’s fitting, then, that the Redskins are the first team during the 2011 lockout to practice together.

NBCWashington.com reports that linebacker London Fletcher organized a practice session, which included on-field drills and pass routes and 6-on-6 sessions in the rain. A total of 26 players attended. Participants included quarterback Rex Grossman, tight end Chris Cooley, and linebacker Brian Orakpo.

“I think the thing that we stress and emphasize to the guys is that we’re not going out here 100 miles an hour trying to compete at the highest level,” Fletcher said. “It’s really just about doing football, getting guys out, doing football related type stuff, but being smart and understanding protect your teammates.”

Some players and agents believe that any competitive scenarios should be avoided during lockout practices, given the increased risk of injury.

With the prolific pass rushers that are in the NFC East with the Cowboys, Giants, and Eagles, are they sure they want Mallett?

Redskins "send a message" to Santana Moss via draft

5/4/2011 10:41:22 AM | More

According to Rich Tandler of CSN Washington, the fact that the Redskins drafted three wide receivers last week "sends a clear message" to free-agent-to-be Santana Moss. It doesn't mean the Redskins don't want to re-sign Moss but it is believed they will let the 32-year-old wideout go if his demands are unreasonable.

Every wide receiver who was on the roster last year with the exception of Anthony Armstrong will be fighting for a job. In particular, Malcolm Kelly and Terrence Austin will get stiff challenges for their jobs. Leonard Hankerson in particular is expected to compete for a starting job immediately.

DeSean Jackson confident his agent will get a new deal done

5/9/2011 7:41:24 AM | More

The Philadelphia Daily News reports the NFL lockout has delayed what presumably would have been a contract extension for Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson, although Jackson said he will let agent Drew Rosenhaus handle all that when it is allowed.

“I know Drew has a plan and that’s the biggest thing, because we really don’t know when the lockout is going to end,” he said. “Drew has been keeping me patient and motivating me and trying not to have me focus on my contract. That’s’ why I have him, so he can do his job and do what he needs to do, so me, as a player can feel confident and know he will do the best thing possible for me. I just really pray and hope that he works it out. I believe in him and know he can work it out for me. That’s why he’s Drew Rosenhaus. He gets paid to do what he needs to do. And that’s’ why in my eyes he’s one of the best.”

Asked whether the deal was simply a formality at this point, Jackson stressed that Rosenhaus “will work it out … I know he’s been keeping in good contact with the Eagles. So far, everything's been positive. I feel he has a pretty good relationship with the front office.”

Pleeeeeease let things get ugly and get Jackson the hell out of Philly.

If I'm his agent I point at Miles Austin's contract and say, now here's what an inferior receiver signed for. Let's fatten that up and now we got a starting point.

You know Jackson isn't signing another contract for peanuts.

I find it hard for Philthy to make both Maclin and Jackson happy. One of them will end up leaving at some point. That's the way Philthy rolls.
