And not to mention Barry played behind some pathetic lines.

Emmitt played behind some very good ones.

Once again, very ignorant, and no surprise coming from you. I was waiting for someone to bring this up. Barry didn't have a bad Oline. That's a lie. He had two pro bowlers on that Oline in Lomas Brown (potential HOFer), and Kevin Glover. People make the foolish claim that if Barry had Emmitt's Oline blah blah blah. But you could not take Emmitt's Oline and put it in that run-n-shoot offense that Barry was in. The Cowboys had earth-movers and road-graders averaging 320 lbs. You couldn't successfully employ zone blocking with them. They were a power Oline for a power running game.

Most Olinemen in the zone blocking scheme which is what the Lions' employed in their run-n-shoot, are generally less than 300 lbs. and are more athletic and agile than the Olinemen on the Cowboys. They have to be. Barry had an excellant Oline for the type of offense they ran, and Emmitt had an excellant Oline for the type of offense he was in. You couldn't take Barry's Oline and have them become road-graders anymore you could put Emmitt's Oline in zone-blocking, so kill that s.hit.

Screw swapping the lines...lets just swap the backs.

Oh, and TWO PRO BOWLERS!

As opposed to Nate Newton, Mark Stepnoski, Ray Donaldson, Erik Williams, Larry Allen, Mark Tuinei, Ron Stone, Kevin Gogan...

Is that the best you can come up with? Not excuses if there are facts.

So lets work it the other way...Emmitt Smith had the luxury of playing with a HOF QB and WR, one the best offensive lines ever assembled, and perhaps the greatest blocking fullback ever. He also had that timing offense that put him the right position to succeed.

I mean, all Emmitt had was Troy Aikman!

Barry had Rodney Peete, Andre Ware, Scott Mitchell, Dave Krieg, Dan Majikowski, Eric Kramer!

And for the most part all they did was hand the ball off to Barry, how hard is that? Scott Mitchell had a season where he passed over 4,000 yards and 32 TDs in a season. Aikman never passed over 4,000 yards nor did he ever have more than 23 TDs in a season.

Lots of quarterbacks have had flash in the pan seasons. Big deal. I guess Scott Mitchell > Troy Aikman.

Why is so hard for people to accept that Barry Sanders & Emmitt Smith were BOTH phenomenal running backs?

Barry is a finesse runner. One of the knock against Barry was his impatience. Emmitt had patience and allowed his blocks to develop. You have to have that kind of patience in the offense Emmitt was in. As for all those Olinemen you named, with the exception of Ray Donaldson, none of them ever sniffed a Pro Bowl or all-pro UNTIL after Emmitt came.

So the o-line was over rated and Emmitt made them better? Bird in one hand...

lol Why the phuck did you think Barry retired so young? The Oline was mediocre at best.

You think Barry had just as good of an Oline than the ones Emmitt ran behind? lol

LOL. So both Aikman and Irvin were HOFers BEFORE Emmitt arrived? News to me. As for the best offensive Oline ever, then they should all make the HOF, correct? And when exactly did they become the best Oline of all time, when none of them ever made the Pro Bowl until after Emmitt's arrival and most were on the team about at least 4 yrears before he arrived?

And that timing offense was more a factor in the passing game than the running game idiot. Man go sit down.

Emmitt was the man and I loved seeing him run, but If Barry Sanders stayed playing, Emmitt Wouldn't be the one beating Walter Payton's rushing record.

You're just be a homeristic ******.

BTW, neither Glover OR Brown ever made a Pro Bowl in a season in which they did not block for Barry Sanders. Hmmmmmm.

Why is it that people that claim Barry was greater than EMmitt, are hypocritical and clueless in their arguements?

It is what it is. You the one that is trying to say that the Oline made Emmitt better. Funny thing is, when Emmitt held out those first two games the following season after they won their first of their 3 SBs, and Lassic took over, he couldn't get it done. If you want to credit the Oline then the Cowboys should have been able to plug any stiff behind that Oline.

Nate Newton himself said he was just a fat Olineman until Emmitt came. So basically he is saying that Emmitt made them a better Oline.

Laz, I'm using your own mentally retarded duck duck goose logic against you. I'm implying that the only reason Emmitt Smith was so good was because of the players and system around him, just like you did to diminish Sanders. Think. Slowly.

I already explained it. If you don't get it... your problem. I was concise. As for Barry retiring, he retired AFTER signing the largest contract for an RB at that time. He basically took the money and ran. He hid out in Spain. An arbitrator ruled that he had to give the money back.

You want to call someone a ******, but you are under the delusion that you can plug-n-play players like they do in Madden. Put Barry behind this Oline and put Emmitt behind this Oline blah blah blah. Go sit down sock puppet.
