Werder did say Garrett's preference would be to let Callahan do it. Said we (Jerry?) wanted more West Coast concepts.

Maybe. He's said a few times eventually Callahan might take over the offense.

Regardless, need to fix the OL no matter what they do.

Wondering if he might try and raid Saban's staff for Doug Nussmeier as new OC. Somebody mentioned their special teams coach might be a target too if DeCammilis is allowed to leave or gets the Chicago HC job

I cant remember who it was today, but someone in the media had tweeted that finding a college OC to come in might be the route they'd go..I totally wrote it off when I saw it, assumed Werder was right about Norv coming here

Bill jones was on the txa 21 sports show tonight and he did an interview with Garrett.

He said Jason told him no decisions have been made on coordinators and that he had more interviews setup for this week.

He also said it would be a week or so until everything was settled.

I can also confirm this. Heard it from a trusted source two minutes before the show aired.

monte kiffin deal is done.

it will be weird having a coordinator in the booth and not on the sidelines.

Is he in the booth due to his age? I guess it would be hard for gramps to stand all game long.

he was at usc I thought, so I am assuming he will be here.

I have no idea if he really will be or not.

I am more interested in the assitants he brings in than the kiffin hiring itself. There are a ton of good coaches who run this same scheme and finding excellent assistants should be a rather easy thing.

if we can fill this staff up with three good guys at the top and a bunch of really good assistants maybe we will have an actual chance to win.

This is one of the reasons I am not disappointed in the change. If he gets to bring guys like Rod Marinelli and Raheem Morris with him, this could be a huge positive for us.

I'm not sure Jones figured it out on his own, but his apparent desire to improve the fundamentals on this football team, and especially the defense is correct. And Kiffin is a guy who preaches fundamentals.

This Glenn "Stretch" Smith on 103.3 now says we *will* have a new playcaller this year. Says that process (snicker) is well down the road.

And he was mentioning Kiffin as early as Tuesday morning before Ryan was even fired.

I'd rather they keep Eberflus and Jerome Henderson.

I concur. I think considering what Eberflus had to work with post Carter and Lee injuries, he did a pretty outstanding job.

I don't think it was Henderson's preference to have Carr and Claiborne play off as they did. And you cannot blame Henderson for Sensabum and McCrap. You can;t make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

With a little luck, we may attain the greatness of the 2012 Trojans, especially with Ginger playing Lane's understudy.
