We do not have a gun violence problem in the U.S. We have a VIOLENCE problem. Yesterday the story was about a cop who shot a 16 year old black girl who was wielding a knife in a threatening manner and appear to be in the act of stabbing another young black girl who was unarmed. When the video surfaced on social media and in the news, the focus was on the cops shooting the attacker. The people who immediately jumped on the anti-cop band wagon made no mention of the knife attack or the potential victim who was saved by the cop. Instead we get the stupid nonsense about race and suggestions the cop should have just disarmed the knife carrying attacker. The absurdity of this is beyond explanation.

But by attacking the cop and not even acknowledging the knife attack on another young girl, the rabble rousers are basically condoning the violence that led to the police shooting. STOP THE VIOLENCE and there will be fewer cop shootings.

Let's say the cop did nothing except yell at the girl to drop the knife, and the attacker stabbed the victim to death. There would still be a dead girl in this incident. But is that okay because it was not a cop who killed her? The weekly violence that goes on in Chicago for example, is never addressed, or acknowledged. Kids and others keep dying. Not because cops are killing them but because cops are not there to stop the killings.

Our country has dipped into a period of insanity. It is inexplicable but crystal clear. 3 year olds can choose their gender. people of color can murder each other. Fetuses at 8 or 9 months can be aborted. We wear makes while people with COVID come over the border like mosquitoes carrying Dengue fever. Member so congress demanding we "forgive debt" and rent while the deficit soars over $28 trillion. If this keeps up we are going to pay a very steep price at some point.

Ok, here's the story. My wife has COPD, so twice a year she has a CT scan and about a year and half ago they detected a spot on her lung So we had to go to Lubbock to see a specialist, and the consensus diagnosis was it was a harmless node caused by her RA. But they wanted to watch it. So, we have doing that scan at increasing intervals. It was showing no growth, so our latest interval was six months, on the 20th of April. We had started going up there the day before, by which I mean my wife bought a bunch of shit. So we decided to go up on Sunday the 18th, and we did. And that's when the shit started. A couple more things that are pertinent first, though. My doctor and I discussed changing a beta blocker(heart rate regulator, for blood pressure) I was taking, as it was losing it's effectiveness. And I mentioned my allergies seemed worse this year, Zyrtec was working ok, and he gave me a script for generic version of the drug. Much cheaper, btw. So we loaded up the old Silverado and away we went on a Sunday afternoon. And that's the last thing I remember until I woke up in the Covenant hospital in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Apparently, after we checked in the motel my wife said I was acting strange and told her " somethings wrong and I've never felt so bad" So we checked out, and headed home. The plan my wife had was try to keep me calm and either see my PCP or go to the emergency room. Apparently I was talking more shit more shit than a Chinese radio station, and had 3 adults(my wife had long since rallied the troops) scared out of their minds. So we went to the ER in the wee hours of Monday morning. Remember that drug we thought was losing it's effectiveness, it totally failed, and my blood pressure, unbothered by it's medicinal keeper, skyrocketed dangerously. Oh, those allergies?, turns out it was this: Acute Encephalopathy (google that) They were losing me.They were able to calm the blood pressure rather easily. But they were running out of time, and the infection in my head hadn't been identified. So they nuked it, by which I mean they loaded up a large dose of strong antibiotics and anti virals and gave it to me intravenously, twice. It worked. I feel pretty good now. My new beta blocker is working very well, but I still have to see cardiologist and a neurologist, they will be looking for damage, of course. It was a very close thing, and I don't mind saying it scared the shit out of me. And my wife. On that note, she's a keeper, boys. She made the right decisions under extreme circumstances, and apparently earned the respect of the original ER staff, and the hospital staff as well, they were scared of her. She had a large part in me being alive right now. I'm on light duty and a low salt diet for now, and I tire rather quickly. So, that's it for now. There's some pretty weird shit I said and did during that lost memory period. Some funny(now) and some horrifying(to me), but I'm absolutely gassed right now, and need some rest. I will tell you this; I'm awful glad things worked out the way they did. Apologies for the lousy format of this post, I'm too tired. Rock on, my Cowboy Brethren.​

Me too. I was on 25 MG twice a day and my heart rate kept dropping below 50. My Cardiologist cut my evening dose in half which seemed to work. I read the average person over 65 takes 5 prescription medications. I bet Metoprolol is one of them and Metformin is another.

I have never been a big gun person although I fully support the 2nd Amendment. I have friends that buy guns all the time. I have one friend who could arm his own militia he has so many guns. I own an old 22 rifle that I learned to shoot with when I was young and a hunting rifle that I haven't used in decades. I have never owned a hand gun although I always say I will get one some day. I keep the 22 loaded where I can get to it quickly and easily if I ever need it but it has not been fired in years.

I have never been a big gun person although I fully support the 2nd Amendment. I have friends that buy guns all the time. I have one friend who could arm his own militia he has so many guns. I own an old 22 rifle that I learned to shoot with when I was young and a hunting rifle that I haven't used in decades. I have never owned a hand gun although I always say I will get one some day. I keep the 22 loaded where I can get to it quickly and easily if I ever need it but it has not been fired in years.

I was never a gun person either, although I have always been a strong supporter of the 2A. So were most Democrats. Not that long ago, even liberals thought the idea of infringing on the 2A was anti-American. Hubert Humphry, a 1960s progressive, once said the 2A is what keeps all the other freedoms safe. This idea that guns are the problem is a relatively new thing derived from a lot of false information. In any case, I bought my first gun in 2020, a handgun, after taking 2 safety and training courses offered by the NRA. I bought a gun because I saw the reaction of Democrats to the violence and destruction at the hands of BLM and Antifa during the summer of 2020. Democrats defended the thugs, even when people were murdered. That's when I realized there may come a time where there will be no justice for people who call themselves conservatives. Unless we defend ourselves, Democrats will not protect us. So now I have 2 guns, lots of ammo, and some training to make sure I don't miss (although 1 gun is equipped with a laser sight and the other a red dot optic to assist with lousy eyesight).

Twenty years ago I would have considered myself a conspiracy nut. But 20 years ago I never thought I would see my government persecuting people based on their politics.

People have to change the narrative to switch blame from what is going on in the inner cities. There is complete lawlessness in certain communities and politicians and leaders within those communities would rather blame guns than look inward to improve their condition. Single parent homes, no adult supervision, no father figures or responsibility for their children, poor schooling, rap music, promoting thug life, etc. Nah....it can't be that. Must be the gun and now, let's add racism to the mix and lets give it a unique name, ie: institutional racism. Blame everyone else.

Spot on. Never, never, never would I have thought the things I'm thinking years ago. But, then again, I never thought I'd see government acting the way it is. Completely insane.
