Has the NRA weighed in yet? I think the answer is more guns.

1. Cops couldn't shoot an unarmed black teen if he was armed.
2. Unarmed black teen wouldn't try to grab the cop's gun if he had his own.
3. Protesters could fire back when being tear gassed by overzealous cops that outgun them.
4. Reporters in McDonald's wouldn't be unnecessarily arrested by overzealous cops that outgun them
5. Everyone would be on even footing and it wouldn't be obfuscated by race

<end thread>

I'm always down with more guns in the public's hand. But, the first time a dumbass shoots a cop with the intent of defending his "social injustice" the punishment should follow just as swiftly and difficulty as allowing felons to have guns.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean with more people as the solution, but I agree that no slum should be allowed to burn with welfare and gov't services as the fuel. It's a huge problem with this country. Way more than a few isolated incidents of police dumbassery.

I meant more people in a community have to be part of the solution than there are people who are part of the problem. The dominant culture of the neighborhood has to shift.

I do not know how to instill work ethic and I don't care enough to try.

The kid was shot in the back and they didn't call EMS for four hours .

blacks have recently been jailed just for fucking a white girl. Black kids routinely get killed and ppl don't get punished. You can see their disillusion to the system.

I'd like to read that story.

Then I agree with you. There has to be a shift in culture. And, it will never happen while pot is illegal and welfare is championed.

What would you define as social injustice? Standing on a street corner getting gassed? I thought one of the mantras of the vigorous pro-gun crowd was to defend yourself against the government?

For the record, I'm pro-gun.....I just think some of the pro-gun crowd gets a little carried away with the rhetoric and does more harm than good.

And, btw, my post was intended to be in jest. I was curious if anyone would take it serious at all.

shooting at riot police is not righting social justice, it is revolution. It has its time and place, but doesn't need to be done all willy nilly. We. Aren't iraq, we could do without one every 6 years.

The people that go out of their way to prove a point that the cops "CAN'T TOUCH ME, MAN!". The ones that go into a volatile situation that they should never be a part of. The guy that got removed from an Israeli/Palestinian demonstration by force and people went a little nutsy that cops felt it was a good idea to remove a factor that could make a volatile situation even more volatile. Basically, people with an agenda against cops in general.

I didn't really take your post as serious, but it still made a good point. The more guns we have in the public's hands, the better when it comes to defending ourselves against the tyranny of gov't. My point was, if one of the aforementioned social injustice martyrs feel like that gives them leave to shoot a cop that is trying to detain them for possibly having a gun that could harm said cop, or being in a volatile situation that could make said situation worse, then they should be removed from the situation.

Well, I thought that was a strange position for you to take, but the alternate was that we are in complete agreement. That latter seemed more far fetched.

My friend, for once, I think we are in complete agreement.
