McNabb joins Eagles players for workout

McNabb joins Eagles players for workout
Posted by Mike Florio on June 22, 2011, 3:00 PM EDT

He’s baaa-aaaack. Sort of.

Quarterback Donovan McNabb, traded by the Eagles in 2010 and inevitably leaving the Redskins in 2011, worked out on Wednesday with some of his former Philadelphia teammates, according to our colleagues at CSNPhilly.com.

He joined roughly six Eagles on the fake grass of the Memorial Sports Complex in Marlton, N.J., after an indoor session at the Power Train facility.

“I’m just focused on working out, it’s what I do in the off-season,” McNabb told Dave Zangaro of CSNPhilly.com. “So, working with a great group of guys. [The Power Train] guys did a wonderful job of preparing those guys. So, I was just looking forward to it.”

So what about McNabb’s future?

“I’m just working out right now,” McNabb said. “As you can see, I’m in some great shape and I’m only gonna get better.”

Regardless of how good it gets, the only thing we know at this point is that McNabb won’t be playing for the Redskins — or the Eagles — in 2011. Or pretty much ever.

Report: Eagles want players, not picks in a Kolb trade

6/24/2011 11:11:54 AM | More

Sal Paolantonio of ESPN said Thursday on Sirius XM NFL Radio that the Philadelphia Eagles think this is their year and they will be pursuing every available big name free agent, notably Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, Tennessee Titans defensive end Jason Babin, and Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth (who is not a free agent but will likely be on another team next season).

The report also mentioned that the Philadelphia Eagles are no longer interested in receiving 2012 draft picks for quarterback Kevin Kolb. Instead they want a player who can help them win games now.

one of my favorite moments ever with sal pal was on the saturday night before the 03 nfc championship game.

A semi-drunk it appeared sal pal was live at the crappy linc and raving about the emotion in the city, the confidence of the organization, the confidence of the players, how the players knew it was there year and how carolina had absolutely no shot at winning this game.

He went onto to do a whole bit on how he believed it was the eagles time and how they had everything in place and carolina would never match them emotionally especially with all those "tough" eagles fans in the crowd. He guaranteed a win for the eagles and said it would be a blowout.

Sunday afternoon the panthers Defense kicked the everloving crap out of the eagles offense and knocked them out.

SO basically Sal Pal is good for an "this is the eagles time" article about 2 to 3 times a year. And according to many analysts it has been the eagles year every year since 02.

Not buying vick ever takes them anywhere personally.

Wasn't there another time Sal Pal did a radio interview drunk, and he said something like the Falcons would have a better record than the Cowboys?

I'm thinking it was in 2008.

All this stuff leaking about the Eagles being major players in free agency is making this season Andy Reid's do or die year.

If they go out and buy the top free agents, load their team with big names.. and still don't make at the very least the NFC title game then Andy Reid is out.

I think that was the offseason of 09. I remember his dumb drunk behind going on and on about how bad he feels for ed werder having to live in Dallas and cover jerry jones and the cowboys.

He is an arrogant POS. Just like that turd dave spadaro.

Yada yada yada, blah blah blah. Homer.

He didn't say it was their year. He said the Eagles believe it is their year.

lol

What the hell kind of response was that?

Honestly it is the only kind of response that you should get. Your bully act calling people homers or whatever is beyond boring.

It's the only response a mindless homer like you can drum up, you mean.

Sal reported on the team and it's mindset. You can't handle that. So you bring up nonsense that has jack and squat to do with the report.

Plaxico Burress likes the Texans, New York Jets, and Eagles

Plaxico Burress likes a few teams
By Jane McManus
ESPNNewYork.com

Plaxico Burress has quite a few thoughts on where he'd like to play after spending the past two years in prison for carrying a gun into a New York City nightclub and shooting himself in the leg.

During an interview on NFL Network, the former New York Giants receiver responded positively to the possibility of playing for the Houston Texans or New York Jets.

"(Jets owner) Woody Johnson has been doing a great job running that organization," said Burress, wearing a pinstriped suit and lilac tie as he tries to rehabilitate his image. "(Coach) Rex Ryan definitely has that team going in the right direction. They're definitely right on the cusp of, I think, going to a Super Bowl and eventually winning it."

As for the Texans, he said: "When you say Houston, all I can say is 'Wow.' That's all I can say, because I give respect where respect is due. And I believe Andre Johnson is the best wide receiver in football. ... The way he's playing down in Houston, they're getting everything going in the right direction.

"Matt Schaub has really taken off as an elite quarterback. I think Arian Foster is one of the top-five running backs in this league. I think that team is bound for the playoffs this year and looking forward to great things."

Then, during a call-in interview with Philadelphia radio station 97.5 The Fanatic, Burress gushed about the Eagles.

"It's definitely attractive," he said. "I'm not going to sit here and say it's not. I mean I just look at the pieces to the puzzle that's already in place, and if I can just go out there and fill that void and just be that extra playmaker and go out and have a presence, have an impact, ya know, make the guys better around me, it's a great opportunity."

A big part of the equation for playing with the Eagles would be to team with quarterback Michael Vick.

"Oh, it would be a dream come true," he said. "I have a lot of respect for Mike, not just as a quarterback but as a person -- you know what he's overcome and what he's went through and just the way he bounced back. ...

"And for me and him to be able to play together ... you know we played against each other in high school, we're pretty much from the same area -- everybody back home would go absolutely bananas. And to just have me, him and DeSean (Jackson) and those guys lining up on the same offense on Sunday ... it would really be exciting."

The 34-year-old Burress is the kind of player the Jets could consider. Ryan has shown a willingness to take a chance on talented and proven wide receivers who have a lot of baggage. Santonio Holmes was suspended his first four games with the Jets last season for violating the NFL's drug policy, and Braylon Edwards had charges pending in Cleveland stemming from a nightclub incident when the Jets brought him to the team.

Both Holmes and Edwards are free agents. Financially, it could be difficult to keep both once free agency begins, and Burress could be an attractive replacement for the right price, although it remains to be seen if the wideout is still in football shape after so much time out of the game.

Burress also revealed during his NFL Network interview that he did not understand the legal implications of carrying the unlicensed gun in Manhattan or that he could face more than a few months in prison, where he ultimately spent 21 months before being released in June. He said teammates Michael Strahan, Brandon Jacobs, Osi Umenyiora, David Tyree, Gibril Wilson and Amani Toomer came to visit him during his incarceration.

"It was just good to see those guys," Burress said. "Me being in that situation, me being at the lowest point in my life, to have those guys support me, it really meant a lot."

Burress was at the top of his game before the self-inflicted gunshot wound. The morning of his sentencing, Burress said he had breakfast at a hotel and later that day was behind bars, a surreal experience. He had made the winning catch as the Giants beat New England to win the Super Bowl in 2008.

He has 505 receptions for 7,845 yards and 55 touchdowns in nine NFL seasons.

Eagles' DE Brandon Graham had microfracture surgery

Philadelphia Eagles 2010 first round draft pick Brandon Graham is recovering from microfracture surgery in addition to the surgery he had on his right ACL and now his ability to play in 2011 is in doubt.

Graham on Wednesday responded to a text message from Nick Fierro of the Allentown Morning Call by saying that he couldn't talk about his injury. Later, he used his Twitter account to voice his frustration over the reaction to his microfracture surgery being revealed.

"I am not doing interviews with nobody until I'm back on the field," he wrote. "Everybody needs to worry about this lockout if anything. I got this!!"

Graham recently said at a golf tournament he was "80 percent" healed and hoped to be practicing in training camp.

Microfracture surgery is considered to be more serious than ACL recontruction as it involves the drilling of holes directly into the kneecap and the injection into those holes of a substance that encourages cartilage growth. The procedure many times is used as an attempt to reverse a degenerative bone condition

Well... that wasn't a denial about the microfracture surgery. Maybe there's some truth to it.

Sucks for the player, but screw the Eagles.
