Is Gallup using the 2008 voter turnout as a model? Over sampling Demfags by 9 points?

actually the only reason Romney is winning in it is because of a monumental advantage in the south. Obama wins in east, west and midwest. IOW, the states with the smartest people and most electoral votes. Romney is unsurprisingly winning BIG in the stupidest region of the country with worthless electoral votes.

Today's Gallup 7-day tracker has Mitt Romney leading President Barack Obama 51-45. Horrible, right?

First of all, this is all pre-debate stuff. But forget about even that, because look at the poll crosstabs from yesterday's edition (when it was 50-46):

.............Obama Romney Margin
East..........52.....48.....O+4
Midwest.....52.....48.....O+4
South........39.....61.....R+22
West.........53.....47.....O+6

Romney's entire advantage in this poll comes from a massive lead in the South. Now sure, some of that may be Florida, but the state-level polling certainly doesn't show that. So Romney is driving up big margins in Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Mississippi and other such presidentially irrelevant states? Good for him! I'm sure that'll be cold comfort as he loses the states that actually matter in the Midwest and West.

and O only wins big in mostly urban city populations, most of which are the most upside down in the nation in terms of their economic status

You see what you guys are doing here? Why either side of this debate is voting in this upcoming election is beyond me.

Oh please...

Throw out New York City, LA County, Bay Area and Chicago and I'm sure those 4-6 point leads become a dead heat.

See I can spin stats to suit my purposes too.

Yeah unfortunately those cities are part of a state, not a region. Romney is doing well in a region that votes republican anyway, and is losing everywhere else.
