I refused to watch the Press Conference. I don't have that many brain cells left to afford to lose doing that.
But, I did see a short clip, where Jerry is basically saying "Schotte has a Mother. He loves his Mother. His Mother loves him. Schotte is doing this for his Mother. And Father."
Implied: "So anyone that would dare to speak against this hire, is speaking against Schotte's Mother, and the Memory of his dead father..."
It's unfortunate that Schottenheimer's big day had to suffer through Jerry's moronic bullshit.
I've watched about 20 mins or so of it so far. My first thoughts:
1) It is stunning to me that Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum actually let Schottenheimer speak FIRST. I don't think that's happened in the past.
2) Spawn was actually announced as the "co-owner". I don't think I can recall this ever happening before either.
3) Schottenheimer comes across as a quality guy. You can tell this is a big deal for him and he was (unsurprisingly) emotional about it. I read a lot of comments elsewhere that those people saw it as he was weak or something, but the guy has been a coach lifer and just fulfilled his dream. It's something his father never got to share with him either and he got teary eyed a bit when talking about his family and Marty.
4) He had some good answers about some changes we will see. If he can deliver on them they are probably things that will result in a more efficient and less Dak dependent offense.
Will post more as I get through it. It's definitely HARD to watch because of Jerry and Spawn (esp Jerry) and I still contend that it would be best served for all of them if they locked Jerry away from public speaking and camera time. It's embarrassing the same way watching that brainless clod Biden was. He just goes off on tangents and nobody has any idea what he is talking about.
