Bummer news but we had been hearing it would happen.
Great player and one of the best if not the best at his position in the league. But players cant expect to get a new deal every time other players elsewhere get a market setting deal either.

Was a must keep IMO, best ballhawking CB in the league. He'll get more opps to make plays this yr too with Gilmore on the other side.
Doesn't appear they re-set the market with his deal either, one of the news releases says they "made him one of the highest paid CB's in the league" so he's up there (deservedly) but doesn't sound like record breaking type money.

I’m just glad this contract is done with. I expected this one to be a problem and to get contentious. I fully expected Diggs to demand to be the highest paid CB in league history.

There are three things I’m looking to see during training camp.
I want to see how Hunter Leupke and Duece Vaughn get used.
I’m also looking to see how well Mazi Smith does against grown ass men. It will be interesting to see how his freakish strength will translate at this level.
This defense (at least on paper) looks to be one of the best we will have fielded in a long time.

The problem will be with #4
Unless he navigates the team to at LEAST the NFC Title game, almost any contract they discuss for him is not worth it.

Worth it or not…..
We all know Dak is getting a reworked/restructured contract extension either this year or next regardless of performance this season. Especially is he does anything other than completely shit the bed.
He would have to have a meltdown of epic proportions to NOT get a contract extension. And with the team we have assembled this season I just don’t see that happening.
Dak would have to Bret Maher it and throw 4-5 INT’s in the red zone in the playoffs (or something similar) for Jerry not to back up the Brinks truck for Dak.
Anything short of that type of epic failure and Dak is gonna get paid.
Hell, he still might get paid even after that type of failure.
