There's only one reason for them to announce this today...for maximum publicity. That's all the Cowboys are now...a publicity gimmick. It's not about winning anymore. It's all about the views and the clicks and the column inches. And the sickening thing is...it clearly works. How else are the Cowboys the world's most valuable sports team despite zero on-field success for nearly 3 decades?

Everything they do is so contrived, they've been doing this with seemingly every significant contract for decades...drag, drag, drag out "negotiations" to keep people talking and then capitulate at such an extremely high number, it obviously could have been done immediately and fails to benefit the team and salary cap in any discernible way

I wouldnt be surprised if the players and agent knew the deal was proverbially "inked" weeks and months before it was announced
