Seems the narrative today in the media and interwebs is "we only bat bad teams"...."we haven't won a game v a team with a winning record.
You can only beat who's on your schedule and currently, we've only played two teams that still have a winning record (Niners and Eagles). The other teams we've beaten:
Giants (twice): 3-8, Scores 40-0 and 49-17
Redskins: 4-8, Score 45-10
Panthers: 1-9, Score 33-10
Rams: 4-6, Score 43-20
Jets: 4-6, Score 30-10
Patriots: 2-8, Score 38-3
Chargers 4-6, Score 20-17
I was curious to see how bad their other losses were or if everyone beats them the way we did. Since again the narrative is we only beat bad teams bad and apparently everyone else does to.
So I looked at their losses and picked 1) their worst loss other than us and 2) the average margin of defeat in their other games, not including us.
Giants: Worst loss, Raiders by 24. Average margin of defeat: 13.2, we beat them by an average of 36
Redskins: Worst loss, Bills by 34. Average margin of defeat: 12.3, we beat them by 35
Panthers: Worst loss, Dolphins by 21. Average margin of defeat: 11.1, we beat them by 23
Rams: Worst loss, Packers by 17. Average margin of defeat: 8.6, we beat them by 23
Jets: Worst loss, Bills by 26. Average margin of defeat: 11.8, we beat them by 20
Patriots: Worst loss, Saints by 34. Average margin of defeat: 10.1, we beat them by 35
Chargers: Worst loss, Chiefs by 14. Average margin of defeat: 5.0, we beat them by 3
So we beat everyone worse than their worse loss except for the Chargers and Jets. We also beat them far worse than their average loss except in the case of the Chargers.
Yes we've got 8 wins vs teams with losing records, but we are beating these teams far worse than the rest of their opponents.
