Don't know anything about the guy. What's his story?
Decent size (6-2, 205). Very white and very slow ( 4.76 40-yard dash). 3 seasons at Oregon State before transferring to Alabama. Best season was sophomore season (52-788-3TD). Signed by Texans as UDFA. Cut by Texans. Signed by Cowboys. Will be cut by Cowboys next week.

Pretty sure we just signed him because he was local. Literally lives within driving distance to our TC.

So there you go. He played for Garrett pal Mike Riley.

And after a quick google, his OC there was John Garrett. Riley of course gave JG a job after Jerry made Jason fire him.

Of course! It's always the same pattern. The Garrett's think they know offense, especially WRs but time after time their instincts or expertise prove that the Garrett's should not be allowed to make decisions for the Cowboys.

Bryan Broaddus tweeted that Jason Garrett plays the most frequent devils advocate when the Cowboys brain trust (pause for effect) makes personnel decisions. My hunch is I think Jerry or Steven or Will or someone finds a talented player available and Jason gets concerned about expectations of his coaching of that player and tries to steer the brain trust away from someone who meets his own rigid criteria: played for Norv, played in Coryell system, coached by family member, recommended by family member, or maybe has been on the Seahawks.

I always go back to the draft where Dallas was on the clock and Jerry etc were clapping because they just sent the pick in for Escobar. Jason had to quickly make a sobering announcement with a red face "we have to be careful how we use him". Here is a gift for your offense Jason, its a 6'7" TE with excellent hands in your catch first offense. Often referred to as the "tallest player on the field" but Garrett would be concerned that having too much of an advantage would not be wise?!?

Cold Beasley working out with Randy Moss. I agree that Beasley's game hasn't lacked anything but opportunity. But having workouts with the king of the fly pattern can only mean good things.

Who is that Patrik Walker?

Sorry, but I guess I can't get used to the new "media" who are rabid cheerleaders for the team.

The Cowboys are seeming to be eerily quiet about this Tapper back injury. He didn't practice again today and apparently has already been ruled out for this week. He hasn't practiced since Wednesday or Thursday of last week I think.

Really? Before the Rams game I heard some reporter saying his back was just a little sore and they'd probably hold him out but it was nothing to worry about.

I'm disappointed, dbair. You're supposed to say we're just hiding him so we can unleash him onto the unsuspecting Giants.

I would not be surprised if it's something major and he's done for the season. This pass rush is going to be historically bad.

What do we know about the Tapper injury so far? Just reported soreness and he's not playing this week? When did the injury happen?

I have a bad feeling that this is going to turn into one of those "day to day"...."well we're being careful, another week should be good"..."we're going to sit him for a few weeks"...."well unfortunately its worse than expected, MRI and then we'll see what course to take"..."gone for year"

They shut him down last week a couple days before the Rams game. He hasn't practiced since and apparently has already been ruled out for Friday too.

Tyron Smith is also injured. Everyone assumed he was held out of the Rams game "just because" but it turns out he suffered a stinger last week, he also has not practiced since and looks like he might be out Friday as well.

Interesting:

Quote of the day

“Oh, I thought the intensity was outstanding. There’s no question about that. Our guys come to practice. We’re in competitive situations all day long and they respond to that. We have the right kind of guys. They come to work every day. They love the game. They want to get better.” — Garrett on the intensity level of Tuesday’s practice

Hey Garrett, the problem is "they come to practice" but rarely do you actually MAKE them practice.
