Romo is not a Top 5 QB. He's in that second tier with Brees, Ryan, Eli, etc.

Well that is a point of debate. But I believe the question that should be asked is:

Find me any top 5 QB, that is saddled with such inept coaching and management, as Romo's and see if they could win CONSISTENTLY.

Somebody posted the question on what would it take for Garrett to have Jerry fre him. All I know is this: if and when Jerry does finally ul the plug... too much damage would have already been done, to where it wouldn't make a difference.
Yep. It would have to be an absolute and total disaster before Jerry would fire him. Like Al Davis end of days bad.

Jerry has never, ever valued the position of head coach. That goes back to the "500 coaches" Jimmy fiasco all the way to today. Jerry believes the players make the team, not the coach.

Garrett was always Jerry's plan because he's a trusted family friend who can present a good face to the public -- and because Jerry knows he won't push back when Jerry does his Jerrying. Period.

No, you're trying to figure out this team. I (and others) already know what it's about. Poor coaching, poor offensive philosophy (RBBC), an OL that we heard took years and multiple first rounders to rebuild that is playing like shit, a poor back-up QB that this staff thought was adequate, poor depth, poor drafting and the list goes on.

Linehan and Marinelli have proven to be very good coaches in this league. Many teams use the same RBBC approach. The O-line has set such high standards that they are having trouble living up to it, although they seem to be doing a much better job pass protecting. The league is trying to replicate what the Cowboys did with the O-line, look at the Redskins. The fact that the coaching staff has made Weeden look serviceable is a credit to them.

I've said it 100 times and I'll say it again. This team IS Tony Romo. The guy is so good he hides all the above flaws. This team is poorly coached, poorly managed and poorly run. You just witnessed what life without Romo will look like when these jerks trot out Brandon Weeden and they think he's adequate. What do you think they'll trot out when Romo is no longer here?

Yea, life without Romo, Bryant, Murray and Scandrick. 4 of the top players on last years team.

The football world realizes what the Cowboys are. A depleted football team.

He's always had a lot of toys to play with on offense, if not a great o-line until very recently. Just because he had a Top 5 season in 2014 doesn't make him a top 5 QB in the league.

Barry Church is unquestionably the WORST player on this team. I bet he missed ten fucking tackles tonight, including the GW TD

Church is the worst player on this roster, and it isn't even close. He has gotten worse and worse every week this season. His coverage has always been bad, but now he cant even make gimmee tackles downfield or against the run.

100% useless fucking player.

Church.... I hope you go home and find your entire family in a pool of blood.

Bad angle. Bad tackle attempt. Bad defense all around.

:lol haters

he and Wilcox will be the starters next year. book it. be it Hamlin, Ball, or Sensabaugh, the Cowboys are fine with mediocrity at that position. if they waited and waited and waited for a fuckup like Matt Johnson to get on the field, they're not gonna abandon Church.

Yep. Always said you asking for problems if you have Church as your starting safety. One of the most important positions on the defense, and you want stuff a UDFA on there because he's a "try hard" player.

Isn't Church's contract up? Seems like he's been here for such a long time. How do we go from Woodson and Roy Williams to the crap we have now?

We must be watching two totally different games. If the game plan was for Weeden to throw short or if Weeden himself didn't want to look down field, either one is troubling. The coaches have had Weeden for 2 training camps. Either they should have seen his inability to see the field or, if they didn't trust him, then find someone else. Weeden is a failure of the coaching staff and our talent evaluators.

And I don't doubt that Marinelli and Linehan are decent coaches but their inability to adjust to what the other side is doing drives me crazy. I don't put that completely on them though. There's a HC who should be the leader and the person these men look to for innovative ideas and experienced leadership. They don't get that with the Cowboys.

Yea, life without Romo, Bryant, Murray and Scandrick. 4 of the top players on last years team.

Sure they're depleated. Throw in poorly coached and this team has got the makings of having a disasterous season.

Who woulda thought that at the end of the game Weeden would be 45-59 with a 76.3% completion rating, a 108.8 passer rating, and would have 9.3 yards per attempt for the season so far.........

And we'd all be bitching about the defense

I didn't see that one coming

Local media with such kid gloves at the Garrett PC. It's like they feel sorry for him. So pathetic.

It's because they're in awe of him. Jason has that effect on people. When Garrett walks in the room, players stop talking. Or something like that.

Can't be put any better. If yesterday's game doesn't reveal as to how inept the coaching and management this team is... nothing will. You're a lost cause.

How do you lose to a reeling Saints' team. A Saints team that all appears to be ready to move on from Payton and Brees?

How do you lose to a Fat Rob ran defense?

Romo is one of the worst things to have happened to this team. Because of Romo and his success, Jerry has been on this quixotic quest to find another Romo (UDFA hit) --- or rather his own Romo, because Payton gets credit for that. Proof of this is the way he addresses the QB position with the draft.

And it's not just limited to the QB position. It would seem that Jerry is/has been attempting to find another Romo for every position, hence you have a Barry Church, Tyler Patmon's, and Cole Beasley. Now everybody likes the underdog training camp stories of the UDFA fighting to make the team, and going all out. We all root for these "Little Engines That Could". But this is not how you build a team. Romo is the once-in-a lifetime exception, and Jerry is squandering it. Jerry if you notice... Sean Payton has not found another Romo, since the first one he's found.

And Garrett... falling upwards. The embodiment of that definition.

Am I the only one that thinks that logically you'd have a former QB, that would run a system that was QB-friendly --- that protected the QB s much as it allowed him to succeed? That shot Romo took... he was wide open for that shot. I can almost say that I never seen Rodgers, Brady, Manning, and others take as many shots as Romo. It just seems like they have all the time in the world, while Romo has to do some sort of acrobats to avoid pressure.

One moment the guy wants to run Air Coryell --- with a lack of a decent run game, and slow WRs that have to go vertical. Then he wants to run 2 TE-sets, and so we use high draft picks for a TE that we seem to only use on occasion.

There is a lot more to rant about, but why bother?

Somebody posted the question on what would it take for Garrett to have Jerry fre him. All I know is this: if and when Jerry does finally ul the plug... too much damage would have already been done, to where it wouldn't make a difference.

The thing is, they are trying to have Weeden fit into an offense that it is tailor made for Romo.

Broaddus said today that Dallas needs to spread it out so that Weeden can make quicker reads.

At this point the season is slipping away so I wouldn't be opposed to it. I'd like for the damn coaches to find what Weeden does well and just attack. I guess it would make things more interesting than the slow death we've seen the last 2 weeks.

That's what I was saying last week, too. Spread everyone out, put him in the gun, and let him get the ball out of his hand quickly like he did in college. We can't run the ball like we did last year anyway, and at least you'd have a chance at some bigger plays then.

Of course it doesn't help any that guys like Street are so average any nickel corner can cover them. Remember when he was going to break out to big things this year?

Isn't Church's contract up? Seems like he's been here for such a long time. How do we go from Woodson and Roy Williams to the crap we have now?

He is under contract in 2016 for $3,250,000 ($2,750,000 salary and $500,000 prorated bonus). That means the team can save $2,750,000 by cutting him this off-season. These dummies made him captain so I'm sure he'll be back, but if he keeps stinking up the field like he did last night, the team might finally upgrade the position.

Free agent-wise, I want them to make a run at Eric Berry. I know that's a long shot, but he is probably my favorite non-Cowboy. I also think the Chiefs will be reluctant to franchise him so there's a chance he hits the open market. I still think he re-signs because of all of the love KC fans showed, as well as the team, during his cancer scare.

More realistically, I want us to sign free agent Tashaun Gibson. I seriously doubt the Browns franchise him (about $9.2M) and he apparently wants out of Cleveland. He's only 25, and has 13 interceptions and 21 passes in 33 career starts. Then move Wilcox to strong safety.
