I've said it 100 times and I'll say it again. This team IS Tony Romo. The guy is so good he hides all the above flaws. This team is poorly coached, poorly managed and poorly run. You just witnessed what life without Romo will look like when these jerks trot out Brandon Weeden and they think he's adequate. What do you think they'll trot out when Romo is no longer here?
Can't be put any better. If yesterday's game doesn't reveal as to how inept the coaching and management this team is... nothing will. You're a lost cause.
How do you lose to a reeling Saints' team. A Saints team that all appears to be ready to move on from Payton and Brees?
How do you lose to a Fat Rob ran defense?
Romo is one of the worst things to have happened to this team. Because of Romo and his success, Jerry has been on this quixotic quest to find another Romo (UDFA hit) --- or rather his own Romo, because Payton gets credit for that. Proof of this is the way he addresses the QB position with the draft.
And it's not just limited to the QB position. It would seem that Jerry is/has been attempting to find another Romo for every position, hence you have a Barry Church, Tyler Patmon's, and Cole Beasley. Now everybody likes the underdog training camp stories of the UDFA fighting to make the team, and going all out. We all root for these "Little Engines That Could". But this is not how you build a team. Romo is the once-in-a lifetime exception, and Jerry is squandering it. Jerry if you notice... Sean Payton has not found another Romo, since the first one he's found.
And Garrett... falling upwards. The embodiment of that definition.
Am I the only one that thinks that logically you'd have a former QB, that would run a system that was QB-friendly --- that protected the QB s much as it allowed him to succeed? That shot Romo took... he was wide open for that shot. I can almost say that I never seen Rodgers, Brady, Manning, and others take as many shots as Romo. It just seems like they have all the time in the world, while Romo has to do some sort of acrobats to avoid pressure.
One moment the guy wants to run Air Coryell --- with a lack of a decent run game, and slow WRs that have to go vertical. Then he wants to run 2 TE-sets, and so we use high draft picks for a TE that we seem to only use on occasion.
There is a lot more to rant about, but why bother?
Somebody posted the question on what would it take for Garrett to have Jerry fre him. All I know is this: if and when Jerry does finally ul the plug... too much damage would have already been done, to where it wouldn't make a difference.
