Another thing that a couple of us noted at half time. It was kinda a little thing, but calling that TO once we got to first and goal with around 40 seconds left ended up biting us in the ass. There was plenty of time to run 3 plays from there with two timeouts, they didn't need to use it so quickly and then scored in one play, leaving Atlanta plenty of time to filet our secondary and go down for a momentum shifting FG to end the half.

I know why they called it (to change personnel and get lined up right) but I still think they had plenty of tiem. hell they could have just left the personnel they had on the field, ran Dunbar from a formation with 3 WR's and if he didn't get in, then call the TO. But they should have ensured that Atlanta would get the ball back with either no time or almost no time left.

As I said before the game........

Weeden would do just enough to stay in as the starter for the next game

But I was glad to see him have success. He's going to need all the confidence in the world in the next 7 weeks

As strange as it sounds, I honestly feel better about this loss than I did about the Giants win.

Was that the long one on the deep crossing route?

If so it was Church underneath who didn't get anywhere near deep enough on the drop, making it an easy throw & catch.

It was like 3rd and 3, so Church was shallow to prevent a short crossing pattern. Wilcox had deep coverage.

I agree

With the help coming in on defense next week and how well we were able to run the ball in the first half I feel much better about the upcoming games

We will beat the Saints and loose to the Pats, then beat NYG, but we will have to see what team shows up for Seattle

I was thinking the exact same thing. we called that TO way too early, because a quick score on the next play would leave them plenty of time to get in FG range, which is exactly what happened. panicky Garrett fucks up again.

I'm glad we got the penalties cleaned up for the most part in this game

Yep.

Without a few of these episodes regardless of how lost the D looked in the 2nd half and its a completely different game

1) Seemed minor at the time but that time management before half was mindless.
2) Weedens WTH Int followed by the penalty to keep the drive alive on a short field hurt bad.
3) Starting a drive at the 43 and going backwards without so much as a FG attempt was brutal.

To throw one more in the mix would be Claibornes dropped INT on the falcons 1st score. Wasn't gift wrapped but you couldn't have asked for a much easier INT chance.

Yeah would have been a great pick, but he made a great read and jumped it well. Ryan threw that ball hard, that was a tough catch.

Claiborne had another pretty good game. The penalty they called on him looked pretty ticky tack to me, and he had good coverage on his guy virtually all day. Still not saying I "believe" in him, but his play the first three games is encouraging.
