Cowboys to work out two offensive tackles

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys’ search for offensive tackles will continue today with J.B. Shugarts and Dann O’Neill coming in for workouts.

The Cowboys have five tackles on the 90-man roster with Tyron Smith, Doug Free, Jermey Parnell (who did not practice Tuesday because of a hamstring injury), Darrion Weems and Edawn Coughman.

Shugarts, who is 6-foot-6, 305 pounds, spent time on Buffalo’s practice squad last year after starting for three years at Ohio State. O’Neill began his college career at Michigan before transferring to Western Michigan. He signed with Houston after the draft but was cut by the Texans.

The Cowboys would have to make a roster move to sign either player.

@dmn_george 1m #Cowboys DE Anthony Spencer said he's about 10 pounds heavier right now than the 252 he was last year. But said he'd lose some in camp.

I'm fairly convinced that when healthy we'll be maybe the most exciting offense in the league this season.

List of teams who can match or exceed us when it comes to QB+playmakers combo? Very few teams with good QBs also have a Dez or Witten, much less both.

Denver? New Orleans? Atlanta?

What they do have is a solid offensive line to let those talented playmakers do there job?

Agreed but that hasn't really been our problem.

Short-yard conversions or grinding out the clock at the end of games (when needed) has been our issue. We live and die off what Romo does with these weapons.

Assuming the line holds up.

I'm pretty sure any DC will look at all our weapons and decide to bring pressure from all angles being the best way to attack. And if we go against a defense who can routinely get pressure using only their front 4, ouch.

This is another reason why I love the Frederick pick. Romo is at his worst when the pressure is coming up the middle. Fred goes a long way towards fixing that, of course, but I do wish we had gotten another G or four.

Have to hope Free's pride kicks in and he improves.

Have to hope Bernadeau shows any sort of improvement.

Good news about those 2 is they are on the right so Romo can see when/if their man beats them.

I don't think New Orleans' line has ever been significantly better than what we had last year (when healthy). They're good enough and Brees does the rest.

And even with that shitty Oline, if we could have even had an average pass D we'd have been hosting a playoff game or two.

Romo isn't Brees though. That dude is incredible.

Brees, Rodgers, Peyton. Those guys are the only QB's (not even brady anymore) who are head and shoulders better than any other QB in the league.

Romo the next tier.

they have two former Pro Bowlers at Guard, Jahri Evans and Ben Grubbs..Carl Nicks before Grubbs and had a Pro Bowler in left tackle Jermon Bushrod.

Brees lightning fast release helps but Romo supposedly has the quickest release in football right now and he can't complete passes with defensive tackles immediately in his face.

No No No!

This is the good news about anything offense. My sources have told me an inside secret that will dramatically change the offense this year.
