@calvinwatkins
1 thing I liked from Saturday is Felix and Murray in backfield at same time.

I don't really care for it. Only one of them will get the ball and it takes a WR off the field.

You might get a play or two out of it across a few games but nothing consistent, IMO.

Agree. It's gimmicky. On run plays only one can get the ball and neither is a blocker. Maybe once in a while you get a LB matched up on one for a pass play, but that kind of gives it away. I think we do enough "tricky" things on offense already. Miles Austin as a short-yardage tailback, anyone?

Remember a few years ago when we had Choice, Felix, and Barber all in the backfield at the same time and we'd have success?

Could be similar.

Well naturally that would be the idea: you and others assuming that either one would get the ball, when in fact it could be a WR or TE.

Nothing wrong with the occasional gimmick, so long as it does not become a staple.

I thought i was sorta a pessimist about the team but some of you blow me out of the water. im starting to wonder if some of you just say something negative just to say it.

This place is a nice breath of fresh air. Those bozos over at the zone are out there talking stupid shit about how Tyron Smith isn't great.

Soounds like Benford might be a #3 WR candidate.

I still think the #3 WR might not be on the team.

And its looking more and more like our starting C might not currently be on the team, unless Bernadeau really gets it going soon and can play the position. Sounds like Kowalski has almost no shot of practice during TC and will probably miss all preseason, and Nagy is gone for most of it too.

They signed a guy from Midwestern State today. That has to be him, right?

If you missed the scrimmage, fear not... I'm posting Kristie's deep thoughts on the game:

Try to overlook the obnoxious glare on her glasses, the shakey camera work, the constant touching of her hair, or the complete lack of interesting or original thoughts.

Well, when that woman beater is THE Dez Bryant, you almost can't fault them.

lol no i was referring to hostile. i remember a arguement he had with a poster that knew him in his personal life and accused him of beating his wife this and that.

Few quick things I think I saw (anyone who comes back from scrimmages with snap judgements is a moron, so I could be completely wrong about everything I'm about to say.)

In the linemen drills nothing really stood out, Smith and Free looked really good. The one thing that stood out was 65 Leary getting absolutely worked twice in a row on the same move by Coleman and Geathers. Coleman beat him bad enough to draw Oooh's from the crowd at our end. They let Leary have another shot immediately to redeem himself and Geathers did it to him. Feet were in concrete and his arms looked nonexistent. But maybe it was just a few bad plays.

Carr looked amazing. Dude was turning heads all over. Sean Lee was everywhere around the ball.

#15 had some bad drops early when he worked with the 1s. Picked his game up once the competition decreased.

#16 and 86 looked good. 16 against the 2's, teamed up with Orton. Orton looked sharp was the best QB on the day.

Blocking looked a mess. We had one good run with Murray and one with Tanner. Both on zone-tosses to Free's side.

Can't think of anything else right now lol Kevin Kolb.

Not exactly but I think Orton is a really good practice and camp guy. That doesn't translate to on the field but he's a nice backup option.

Other things...

The venue blows. Oxnard is a shitty town, it's either ghetto or the harbor with aging yuppies and hipsters. The camp is in a shitty place. It's easy to get to and everything but standing in line you feel like you're at some sort of Phish concert for Mexicans, whatever the Mexican equivalent of Phish is. Basically the practice area is two fields side by side, along one side is a set of 6' high bleachers. They let members of the True Blue fan club down on the sideline, but there's only room for a thousand. We stood in line at noon (practice started at 2:30) and by the time we got in nearly every seat in the bleachers and true blue area was filled, and there were still thousands outside. Someone next to us told us the place only holds about 5500 people, and they've been turning people away every day. Eventually they let another thousand or so people in but they had to walk over to the far field where there was nothing going on and line up to try and watch - with the sun directly in their eyes. I thought there'd be alot more in the outside area in terms of entertainment but there were two pro shops, a few food stands and then a bunch of places you could sign up for Cowboys shit and one stage for a giveaway area. Also a kids play area with like 3 blown up things. It was ok but I doubt I'll ever go back. I had more fun getting baked and walking around Santa Monica for a few hours than I did at camp.

There were a few idiots there, one in a McCoy jersey and one in a Gore. When they walked by there were crazy boos everywhere, it even distracted the players/coaches on the field.

Being so close though made it obvious why Witten is Romo's favorite target. He's just fucking enormous and easy to see. He gets himself wide open over the middle why would you throw to anyone else.

Dez gets the people going. Noone gets more cheers for doing the most mundane thing like catching a practice punt. Everyone is excited about him, he's got a bit of an aura. It's gonna suck if he can't get his shit together for us.

Murray looked insanely fast. We motioned him out to the wing a few times, he'd chip and release. Very dangerous on the swing passes and he burnt Sean Lee on a wheel once. Sean was in his pocket but Romo lofted a perfect pass and Murray went and got it.

There's no reason to keep McGee on the team any longer. It's over. He can't play.
