Well yeah doesn't the superior player usually start?

Mathis was a 3rd round pick who has been on 4 different teams and could never beat out Livings.

Why should I think differently? Because Mathis had 1 good year after being widely considered a draft bust.

Livings was undrafted so its not like the Bengals had a reason to play favorites.

Costa "beat" out Gurode too.

It's not always that simple.

It is that simple. In fact, your argument only gives further strength to Bigboi's. Livings was an UFDA, whereas Mathis was a 3rd round pick, and Costa/Gurode's situation is nowhere remotely similar to Livings/Mathis. Livings legitimately beat out Mathis---who bounced around to different teams. Gurode was cut as part of a cap-saving move and youth movement, combined with Gurode's attitude.

Nate Livings - G - Cowboys Offensive line coach Paul Alexander believes Nate Livings has played well enough to keep his starting left guard job in 2011.
Livings nailed down the starting job last year in large part because Evan Mathis was returning from a foot injury in training camp. Mathis has been the better player the past two years, but he's set to reach free agency this season. The Bengals can do better than Livings, who has struggled to protect Carson Palmer.

No. Not always.

As little faith as I have in the Cowboys ability to spot a good offensive lineman, I have even less in the Bengals.

You're talking about two of the worst franchises over the last 15 or so years. I wonder why the Eagles weren't interested in upgrading from Mathis to Livings?

The Bengals have had one of the best run blocking lines in the NFL over the last 3 years so I think you should give them some credit for identifying linemen.

Why exactly do you not have any faith in the Bengals, they just had a above average running team while relying on a rookie QB and receiver it seems the o-line performed very well.

I don't know what to expect from Livings but using Mathis as a reason to be upset makes little sense.

Pretty funny, seeing as how they made no attempt to re-sign him.

Plaxico Burress, one of the final WRs on the market, still in talks with several teams. PHI could be a possibility. #freeagency

Are there any free agents out there you're still following, either for the Cowboys to have an interest in, or just players you like.

I've mentioned him a few times, but I'd interested in Kameron Wimbley. I'd like to see Dallas give him a look.

And of course, while I'm tired of the media coverage, I'm interested in where Peyton ends up.

But there's not much else out there anymore.

Koppen, Wimbley, Dressen, Ted Ginn jr.

I wouldn't mind seeing any one of those free agents in Dallas.

It's not nearly as bad as the 'Favre Watch', so I am not complaining.

So the Eagles lost Joe Mays, and they haven't been able to land Lofton, Connors, Tulloch, Hawthorn or anyone else in free agency.

Is there any doubt they're taking Keuchley in the first?

According to Todd archer Dallas has a visit today with gb cornerback jarrett bush...

Now this I like, I feel like we need a 4th vet at cb and he has good size and is a good special teamer.

After adding QB Matt Flynn, the Seahawks have scheduled a visit Tuesday for Raiders RB Michael Bush. TE Jacob Tamme also to visit Seattle.

I had Jarret Bush as a free agent add a couple months ago. We'd be pretty deep at CB although Packer fans held him in the same disdain that we all held Alan Ball.
