That's where the whole "shunning" talk came from. Cynthim presented a verse that had nothing to do with Christians being commanded to kill and then you two both went on a tangent about shunning.

So tabling the fact that most Christians won't actually kill or harm nonbelievers (just as most Muslims will not) I guess we've reached a good place where we understand that ALL religions are of necessity divisive and have harmful practices (like shunning) which are commanded by their holy texts. I feel good about what we've accomplished.

FUCK OFF!! RAWR!!

Too funny. You getting all uptight about how you perceive me discussing things, when you're the one constantly slinging out the insults, cursing, or whatever.

How about you just save time and throw out the tried and true 'No u'? That's always a knee slapper.

And you know exactly what I was talking about. You see that we cannot be converted yet you carry on the conversation instead of walking away like a good Christian should.

I'm not trying to convert you. Nowhere in here have I tried to get you to believe in anything.

I freely admit I'm not a good Christian. Burn or not. I don't give a shit.

I see you still don't understand what 'many' means. I swear you and VA Cowboy are putting on a clinic in shitty reading comprehension.

Me: many Christian sects today practice shunning?
You: Many Christian sects practice this?
Me: Lists some.
You: SO WHAT YOU'RE SAYING IS THAT ALL CHRISTIANS SHUN???????????????

God. Fuck off is this is going to be how you discuss things. I didn't address your example because you're mentioning one guy who is a liberal. That doesn't tell me anything about him really, so there was no point. If you can point to a liberal group with millions of adherents that practices something like shunning, then be my guest. You offering up one dude you know really has no bearing on the beliefs enforced by Christian sects on their millions of followers.

lol

I guess I win. Next time read better so I don't have to spend half the posts explaining the other half of the posts to you.

Where am I using hyperbole? I'll gladly admit to it if made aware.

You are exaggerating my point of not talking to non-believers to mean that it should never be done when it is common knowledge that Jesus sought to convert these people to his following. Perhaps I should have worded it better to say those who will not be converted.

What would make you a good Christian?

Just curious.

All you Christians better get out of here, Jesus told you not to talk to us non-believers. Maybe you should ban us from your forums instead? It is in the NT so you better listen!

Oh, yes. You made it so clear.

Damn me for my hyperbole.

Just off the top of my head, not to be so judgemental.

I'll happily discuss religion with anybody, regardless of their beliefs. But 99 times out of 100, an athiest/agnostic will quickly resort to insults and try to offend to try make their point. The man in the sky, fairytales, etc... Basically all it accomplishes is it shows how immature they really are. Jesus may love them, but I think they're douchebags. So that in and of itself makes me a poor Christian.

On these football boards, I've run across ONE guy who would put themselves in the athiest/agnostic category that can discuss religion without resorting to childish tactics. E_D Guapo over at the DCC. I've learned a lot from his perspective, and actually enjoy discussing it with him.

Funny, I find the exact same thing to be true about the Christian crowd.

(I love the douchebags but hate the douchiness)
Yeah, that would be a better way to put it, I guess.

But sometimes I'd still like to rip their f'n black heart out and show it to them before they die.

Too much?

It’s kindof like when Christians will do the whole “i’ll pray for you” type retort. It’s offensive to those that don’t share in those beliefs. Or the idea that a Christian believes you going to burn in hell for eternity because you don’t share their same beliefs. They don’t have to say a word and you already know what they think about you. But, yea i think it’s always best to keep the spoken insults out of it.
