Robert Kennedy Jr. on Israel:
RFK JR.: What I'm saying is that Hamas is a criminal enterprise. Sure. Yes. And when you talk about solutions for the Palestinian people, the truth is, the Palestinian people are arguably the most pampered by international aid organizations in history.
BREAKING POINT INTERVIEWER: But even before this war, 78% of people in Gaza said they didn’t have enough food to eat. Why do you think that is? Shouldn’t Israel bear some responsibility?
RFK JR.: Well, first of all, Israel has no obligation to support them. Israel built 3,000 greenhouses, gave them to Gaza as a gift, and even offered to rebuild the port to make Gaza the "Singapore of the West." But Hamas rejected this. They didn’t want Israel’s money or ideas.
BREAKING POINT INTERVIEWER: But why?
RFK JR.: Because Hamas controls the aid that Gaza receives, which is more than 10 times the per capita aid given to Europe after the Marshall Plan. Gaza has received $8,300 per capita, while Europe was rebuilt with $621 per capita. But instead of investing that money in infrastructure, Hamas steals it. The top five leaders of Hamas are billionaires. According to Forbes, Ismail Haniyeh has $5 billion.
BREAKING POINT INTERVIEWER: So, Bobby—
RFK JR.: Hold on, let me finish. It’s not Israel’s fault that Gaza is poverty-stricken. Gaza could have been one of the wealthiest places on the Mediterranean, but Hamas chose a different path.
BREAKING POINT INTERVIEWER: But Israel controls everything that comes in and goes out of Gaza. They have no control over their own territory.
RFK JR.: Krystal, why are you insisting on blaming Israel instead of blaming Hxmas?
BREAKING POINT INTERVIEWER: I do blame Hamas, but our tax dollars don’t fund them. They fund Netanyahu’s government, which uses bombs to target the population.
RFK JR.: Most of our tax dollars go to Israel’s defense systems, like the Iron Dome. For 16 years, Israel and the U.S. have spent huge amounts of money trying to avoid a ground invasion of Gaza while Hamas fires 2,000 rockets a year and sends suicide bombers. Israel has had to "mow the lawn" five times, meaning they’ve gone into Gaza, signed peace agreements with Hamas, and every time, Hamas violated them.
BREAKING POINT INTERVIEWER: But Israel is also killing Palestinians in the West Bank.
RFK JR.: If Mexico attacked us and we built a fence to protect ourselves, would you blame us for retaliating against Mexico? It feels like you’re always blaming Israel instead of holding Hamas accountable for the conflict.
