Chris Carter taking ESPN people to school on Hitchens play and why it wasnt interference.

I suspect CC will be fired any day now.

My thoughts on the picked up flag. Reminded me of the exact play that happened against Seattle. They didnt call a flag then and they shouldnt have called a flag on that play. The offensive player had his hands (facemask) on the defender. If the Cowboys win the Super Bowl, nobody is going to remember that play anyways.

Watching it unfold at the stadium, i dont think anyone knew what happened. I thought it was tipped or something. They actually had already marked off the penalty yardage. It wasnt once i was in the car listening to the radio that i realized how big of a deal everyone was making it out to be. I assume Buck and Aikman went on and on about it. I think the officials were intimidated with 91,000 people on their ass.

That said, i think the media would rather focus on the controversy then give Romo credit for proving them wrong. Cowboys have done this all season. Unbelievable resolve and they never give up.

So Pettigrew grabbing the facemask and extending his arms into Hitchens was ok, but nothing Hitchens did was, right?

I don't buy the facemask call because if you slow everything down enough, you can see facemask/hands to the face on literally every single play on the line or in the backfield. He didn't hold the mask or turn his head at all. What I did see was Hitchens making contact and restricting Pettigrew's arm where he couldn't even reach for the ball.

But if Levy had done that to Witten and we'd lost, you'd make the same argument that it wasn't a foul, right?

Because it isnt relevant.

It didnt cost them the game, if the same thing would have happened to us and the game played out exactly as it did, we'd have still had chances to win or hold the lead. They didnt score a single TD after the first qtr, maybe they would have scored one (finally) on that drive. Or maybe they'd have just got another FG, in which case the TD we scored won the game anyway. Hell maybe Stafford would have turned the ball over again.

I'm not even claiming Hitchens did nothing on the play. He obviously contacted him. I dont think PI was the right call because IMO the ball clearly wasnt catchable. Defensive holding or illegal contact was probably the right call against Hitchens, but Pettiegrew was guilty of either a facemask or offensive PI depending on perspective. The ball was catchable for Hitchens had he been able to spin around, but he wasnt able to because Pettigrew was grasping his facemask.

The right thing was either offsetting penalties or no call. The real mistake made was the officials not conferring before the announcement of the call was made.

Listen, it was worthy of a flag.

A flag was thrown.

Then was mysteriously picked up like 30 seconds later.

Refs don't do that and the Lions have a first in almost field goal range with like 5 minutes left. Odds are we lose the game.

We got lucky. Real lucky. Accept it Retards.

I mean I'm just as excited as the rest of you but that last night was just another prime example of how were getting all the breaks this year

Hopefully we can capitalize with a SB appearance. .

Why did you skip that last sentence? :)
Because everyone knows the answer...

Literally never seen dbair admit a bad call went in our favor or that a good call went against us. The refs are the debil and wrong in all instances, except when it helps us.

no shit. he would have been climbing the walls had Witten been interfered with like that. but hey, a guy in Atlanta sitting in his La-Z-Boy knows more than the head of officials.

You guys can keep going around in circles. I don't care. Detroit didn't get a holding call all day on offense that I can remember. Then Witten gets a bogus holding call near the goal line (didn't Murray score that play?) and the play gets called back. Deion non-call on Irvin, Witten's mystery spot after having the 1st down in the playoffs, the tuck rule, Steelers goal line TD in the SB when the ball never crossed the plane, etc, etc, etc. The only bad thing about Hitchens' play was that it didn't happen against Seattle. Fuck the rest and on to Green Bay.

Of course he would use that as the excuse to why we lost the game. Not that we didn't go for the 4th down and then horribly shank a punt.

This is pretty much how I feel... Losers focus on bad refereeing. Winners move on. And everyone is a loser at some point. Green Bay isn't going to care that there was a bad call.

I will admit that it was a bad call, but that's about it. Those who are crying about it and claiming a conspiracy etc, can GTFO.

What about how we went for it on 4th and 6.

I hated the decision. We converted, so it worked out, but it would've been a real bad thing ha we not.

Loved going for it on 4th inside the 1. But hated the later 4th down decision.
