Thanks for the Romo empty backfield responses. The flow of the game had me concerned.

Trust in Romo and Linehan. At this point I expect positive plays, well, almost every play.

Of course that isn't realistic, but I don't care if we go no gain, incomplete, I expect that 3rd and 10 to be converted. And it usually is.

Romo said something very interesting after the game. He said he's just grown a lot since 2007 and 2009. He said back then he took too much on himself but now he realizes that if he doesn't make bad mistakes, the other team isn't going to get so far ahead that we can't come back. He claims that's why some of those bad-looking passes were short... He was putting them in spots where our guy might catch it, but if not it wouldn't be an INT.

I think that's a big part of this year. Tony has just matured tremendously. He's a mid-30s guy with a family and perspective, not a gunslinging kid who says dumb things like, "I wouldn't want to fast forward to the playoffs and miss all the fun." He gets it now.

Right on point. I have so much confidence in Romo's ability to convert on 3rd down and redzone plays at this point in his career. Linehan has worked wonders here. Whereas before it was ****** Wade Wilsom or Ginger sitting down with him, now you have him actively being coached on the sidelines by an actual qualified person.

To another point, I have no clue what's gonna happen in Green Bay. It's gonna be 3 degrees there and the Packers opened as 7 point favorites. Rodgers is very capable of picking apart our D but I've seen GB also play like shit at times this season and you gotta hope they're a bit sluggish from injuries and time off. This game worries me quite a bit but you also don't deserve a title of you can't win in these scenarios.

What a game. I felt like i was in a 12 round fight. My hands hurt, my throat hurts, i was exhausted after the game. I tell you what, that crowd willed that defense to make a play. Never seen an atmosphere like that before. Amazing comeback. Anyone who tries to take that away from them can go fuck themselves.

Taking sacks where in the past, he would be let's say, impetuous. He did that at least twice this game, where really he had no other choice but to do something unwise. In past years, he was apt to do the unwise. He stayed, wise.

Gerry Austin was on Mike & Mike apparently (Austin was a long time NFL ref and also head of officiating for the league). He said the flag should not have been thrown in the first place because it was not PI, he did say if they threw the flag and announced the call they probably shouldn't have then reversed it, but it was his belief that no call would have been the proper ruling all along.

I also find it comical that people like Peter Queen, Joe Buck and some of those ESPN people going ape shit over this still don't mention one word about the contact that Pettigrew initiated (Pettigrew himself says he didn't make any contact with Hitchens, when its crystal clear that he grabs the face mask). They all want to focus on "he didn't look back for the ball!!!!!!"....when he couldn't look back for the ball because he was being pulled towards Pettigrew by the face mask.

There is a down side to this win.

Its dblair is back to full on homer and his posting numbers are up dramatically. There was a brief period where we had him on the dark side but unfortunately that is now over

So... About Dez running onto the field without his helmet to protest the PI call, is that a penalty? Someone needs to have a chat with him about that ****** move.

Yeah it's a penalty... that should have been offset by the offensive PI/facemask by Pettigrew.

A couple of things about this game. First, I'm in full homer mode so I'm dbairs best buddy from now on. I didn't feel confident about this game going in because I'm just waiting for the wheels to fall off on defense.

I'm sick and tired of teams coming into a game with a scheme/game plan that just makes us look bush league. Detroit's D was good enough to begin with and they were bringing guys free on stunts and blitzes. We just looked puzzled for most of the first half. This is one of the reasons I'm just not a Garrett supporter. We didn't have a response on offense for most of the 1st half and had it not been for the defender slipping and falling on TW's TD catch/run, the game would (obviously) have been different. We started the game vanilla by running on 1st and passing on 2nd down. No play action and then we just went to shotgun on 1st in the second half.

I don't give a shit about the call and then non-call against Hitchens. Think back to Witten's first down catch against Seattle in the 2006 playoffs that was reversed without any definitive camera angle. The ref that made the 1st down call was at the first down marker with the best view of the spot and he was over ruled after a booth review. Or how about the non-call on Deion in the 94 NFC Championship game when he blatantly interfered with Irvin on a deep ball in the 4th quarter during a ferocious comeback. That changed the whole game.

These calls happen and they've happened to us at crucial times during playoff games that, IMO, directly impacted the outcome. So I don't feel bad in the least.

:lol dbair found the one guy in the crowded bar who would agree that he wasn't drunk...

It was a terrible call. Awful. I don't think it made a difference in who wins the game, because their O had bogged down and I doubt they score a TD. So a FG would only have made it a 6-point game, and we drive for a TD to win anyway. But it was definitely PI, especially in this day of super-favorable offensive rules.

I really would like to find a gif of that Romo celebration on the ground after he threw the TD to Williams.

If it was PI then it was OFFENSIVE PI. Or did you miss how Pettigrew INITIATED the contact by grabbing Hitchens' face mask? And there were far worse calls made against the Cowboys than that one in that game, like the bogus offensive PI against Williams, who was knocked into the defender by another defender.

Just bc you touch a guy doesn't mean you INTERFERE. The controversy here was only the delay. Why was there such a delay? Maybe bc the guy thought the backjudge was calling 1) the little tug
2) the facemask

But there was absolutely no PI.
