That would be the worst case scenario. Wasting multiple picks, including a top 10 selection, on a meaningless CB who does nothing to address the problems with this team.

J.J. Watt in the first round is fail. When you enter the draft with the 9th pick and come away with a white DE at the top of your class, you suck at life.

Prince Amukamara. Totally overrated. I'd rather have Jimmy Smith, Ras-I Dowling, even Aaron Williams.

Nate Solder would seem like fail. But at least there's a chance that could pan out. There's no chance with the three other moves.

I wouldn't be upset with trading up for Peterson... We don't have to use him as a CB. He could always be our safety... and if he turns into an Ed Reed type then we win big in this draft.

lol at your JJ Watt line.... I feel the same way. For me it goes with the red head QB / too many jews on one team / black QB / white WR or DB line of thinking.

More I think of it, I wouldn't be shocked if Tyron Smith goes before us and we're taking Castonzo at 9.

Peterson has already said he intends to play corner. He'd consider playing safety down the road.

Not that a player should dictate that but if that's his attitude I highly doubt any team would draft him as a safety.

TCU Andy Dalton's red hair a 'red flag?' One NFL coach thinks so

Rainer Sabin / Reporter

By all accounts, TCU's Andy Dalton is a fine quarterback. He's mobile, he's cerebral and he's a proven winner. But there's one thing: He's got red hair. And in the eyes of one NFL coach that's a potential "red" flag. Sports Illustrated's Peter King explains in this excerpt from an article he wrote in the April 25 issue of the magazine:

  • When you talk to teams with big interest in Dalton--Cincinnati, San Francisco, Tennessee, Minnesota, Indianapolis (coach Jim Caldwell, coordinator Clyde Christensen and G.M. Chris Polian flew to Fort Worth to work him out)--you hear about his aptitude and experience. Dalton had 49 starts at TCU and may be able to adapt to a new offense quickly--important in a year when teams will have to get new players ready on the fly if the work stoppage stretches through the summer.

At least one team is thinking not just about Dalton's brains but also about what's on top of them. "Has there ever been a red-headed quarterback in the NFL who's really done well?" a coach asked one reporter last week. "It sounds idiotic, but is there any way that could be a factor? We've wondered."

You can bet that coach isn't the Cowboys' Jason Garrett, the red-headed former quarterback who played eight seasons in the NFL. Besides, Garrett, who is guarded with his words when speaking with the media, isn't prone to making ridiculous comments. And that remark is absurd.

I love how Sabin calls it absurd.

Okay. Then start naming the successful redheaded NFL QBs over the years.

What's really absurd is in today's society people can't accept the fact that we're all different. We have to pretend everybody's alike with the same strengths and weaknesses.

ESPN's doing a segment on Watt right now.

Turned down a hockey scholarship to play football.

That should be a major red flag right there.

I just think you have to take it a step further then whats on the tape or how he looks in shorts at the combine...

Shit like being a red head plays a factor to me, as stupid as it sounds. There's a reason why there has never been a great one... A reason why black QBs tend to make horrible leaders at the QB position... A reason why white WRs/DBs can't hang in the league anymore... etc.

I guarantee you more teams look at this kind of stuff... They just want to be politically correct, and would rather think it than say it.

Just like baseball players...

No way should we draft Watt at 9.

He'll say that because he knows that position is whats going to make him the most money.. but if we end up paying him the same then I doubt it matters much to him where he plays.

How many 220lb corners are in the league, anyway?

Yeah. It'll matter to him. Because he's playing for his next paycheck. The big one. He doesn't want to enter unrestricted free agency in 4 or 5 years (depending on the new CBA) as a safety. He knows that. That's why he's saying he'd consider playing safety down the road. Like on the back end of his career when he's already made his money.

Another way to look at it is to play corner, you have to have supreme confidence. And these guys consider it a slight when they're told they might have to convert to safety.

A guy with supreme confidence is going to disagree and say he wants to play corner.

Same applies for these atheletic QB's who are told they might have to play receiver or safety in the NFL. Tyrod Taylor was on NFLTA a few weeks ago and they mentioned it to him and his response was that he wanted to come in as a QB, and he wanted to play QB.

I don't see anything wrong with that.

In fact, I think that confidence is a plus.

Actions that would make me unhappy...

Any sort of trade up in the first round

Staying at #9 and selecting an offensive lineman other than Smith

Going into round three and not having selected an offensive lineman as of yet

Losing picks in a trade up...that Sean Lee trade still irks me.

Not drafting an OL in the first two picks.

Not adequately addresssing the line(s).
Taking small school projects in the middle rounds.
Trading back for the sake of trading back.

Packaging any picks to move up for Peterson makes this draft a failure.

Not necessarily. If they sent a pick in next yrs draft in lieu of anything this yr, that wouldnt be so bad.

If they got away with giving up only a 4th to move up 3 or 4 spots to get him, that wouldnt be so bad.

My opinion is I am not sure he's worth moving up for in the first place. I kinda hope he goes in the first 3 or 4 picks.

I'm guessing you meant from 9, which I agree with.

However I wouldnt be totally unhappy with a move from 40 back into the first for a reasonable price, if they believed they were getting a really quality player with starting potential there.

Please don't tell me my opinion.

If I ran the Cowboys and the Titans called me up with pick 8 on the clock and offered to swap picks for a 2028 7th or they were gonna make a deal with another team that wants Peterson, I'd tell them to F off.

If I wouldn't use the 9th overall pick on Peterson, I certainly wouldn't package picks for him.

I'll be grading this draft class an F if it starts that way.

I would rather take J.J. Watt at 9 than move up for Peterson.

And I'd rather drag my nut sack over shards of glass than take a white DE in the top 10.
