Besides that catch he made when he took a big hit in his first game what has he really done?
He's got these td's but he hasn't really made any plays

24 catches for 368 yds and 2 tds is pretty good through 8 games for your 3rd WR, especially considering he didnt play much the first couple games. He's had two games with 5 catches and one other one with 7. He runs nice routes, has good hands and good size/speed. He's been a really good find for us.

I am all for signing Robinson, but I am not going to unlock the vault for him...something reasonable, not more that 1.5 mil a year. it does show you how much we have lacked at the 3rd WR spot for years when a guy off the streets with a little talent and we are all head over heels for him.

He was a little more than that. The Falcons gave up on him too soon after injuries.

Patrick Crayton was an ideal 3rd WR, this guy is producing at a similar level but has a little more physical talent than Crayton had.

I wouldnt break the bank for him either, but he is a young guy with alot of upside and some physical talent, and he has adapted well to this system. Would give us an ideal trio of WR's for years to come if we can keep him.

we have 14 unrestricted free agents this off-season so I would really like to see Jerry lock some players up during the season. I don't want to go into the off-season with that many holes. I don't think Jerry will handle it well. He'll fill all 14 openings with undrafted free agents from Appalachian State and Southern Connecticut State School of the Deaf.

true, Bradie James and Keith Brooking come to mind.

but if we replace them (their roster spots) with Orie Lemon and random undrafted scrub, then we aren't really addressing weaknesses. We would be one injury away from an awful player having to start for us, which is what has been going on this year. Luckily, we found Laurent Robinson, Derrick Dockery, and Montrae Holland standing in the unemployment line. All 3 were added after final roster cutdown day.

This years draft is looking pretty good, I'm hoping we can string together a few really good drafts to increase the talent and improve the overall depth.

Oh...we need an OLB to pair with Ware. It does not have to be draft pick, but a competent veteran. Ahmad Brooks, Jarret Johnson, and Quentin Groves come to mind. Butler should be in the mix, but Spencer has been less that I thought he would be.

It's like the never-ending search for someone/anyone who can also rush the passer opposite Ware. I'm afraid by the time we find this elusive player Ware will be in the declining stage.

It's amazing how fast time flies. I remember when Brooks was being recruited out of high school and choosing between Tennessee ad UVA. Seems like just a few years ago, but it's almost been a full decade since then.

He is really playing well this year...I know Harbaugh likes him so he very likely will stay there, but I like the way he is playing right now.

Ahmad Brooks would be high on my list too. I've followed him since way back and even though he had some off-the-field issues, he has really become a solid player.

Going back to his UVa days, his time with the Bengals, and now the 49ers, Brooks has played every single LB position in both the 4-3 and 3-4 schemes. He also plays nasty which is missing from our current defense. He would be the #1 back-up at all 4 LB spots for us and if we lost Spencer, would compete with Victor Butler for the starting LOLB spot.

I don't think we should re-sign Laurent unless he comes cheap. Just do what the Packers do, and draft a receivery relatively high, every year.

I don't know if we should go after Ahmad Brooks. He's having a career year in a contract year, but up until this point has been a little better of a pass-rusher than Anthony Spencer. Maybe for depth purposes as cmd says.

I don't think Brooks will get as big a contract as Spencer will get.

I thought Brooks was older but they are the same age.

2 td's were via romo making a play. They weren't catches peerless price couldn't also make right now.

Im not down on him, but he hasn't ever jumped out at me. Making the catches he's supposed to. Good 1 year contract candidate.

It was luck they got him, hes got ability. If we dont sign him we gotta draft someone and thats never effective not to mention we have nothing but scrubs waiting in the wings to replace them....

Can Brooks cover because playing opposite Ware that is going to be a high priority for him.

And for the record Brooks has less career sacks than Spencer so I fail to see how he would be an upgrade, if we are replacing Spencer I want a clear upgrade not a FA stopgap.

Not true. The playcalling was brilliant on the redzone TD to him Sunday. It was designed for Romo to scramble out of the pocket and hope for pass protection to occur long enough so that Robinson could run around and hope to get open...which he did. Just like Garrett planned. The player execution was correct for once on a redzone play, and you saw the results...

.

With the way Spencer has played most of the year, seems unlikely to me anyone would give him a decent long term contract. Still has a chance to turn it around, but right now I'd say there wont be a great deal of interest.
