I started at alt.sports.football.pro.dallas-cowboys over on USENET (does anyone remember USENET groups?) and Dan Smith's COWBOYS-L listserv (does anyone remember listservs?) back around 1994-95 or so. I stayed on USENET and the listserv for years, avoiding the web-based discussion groups because there were (and still are) too many of them. But as spammers took over USENET and as the traffic on the listserv died off, I was forced to join the web forums. I don't post very often at any of them but when I do it is usually at CowboysZone or True Blue.

I started on USENET too, Fred. In the early 90's. There was a general NFL discussion group where I posted often under a different username. I do remember your posts/contributions during USENET years.

Some people here may not know it, but you are a true historian of the team. You've been at it for at least 20 years.

(It isn't like you suddenly decided last summer to become a self-proclaimed historian, unlike some)

I went from USENET to The Ranch before it became affiliated with Scout.com. I posted there for several years (post count disappeared when the site went Scout.com). Over time, Roy's act wore me down a bit and their site was going through a rough patch ... an influx of many high school like members who didn't seem so much into football. During that time, an AdamJT13 post made it to The Ranch site (I'm pretty sure he posted it himself, but it might have been lifted and posted by someone else). It was one of those classic, in-depth AdamJT13 posts. I was impressed. I learned that he usually posted at the CZ. So I moved over to the CZ.

I signed up a new member. Where's my football phone?
You signed me up too. When I heard you had been banned from CZ, it was a last straw for me.

The cult of personality over there finally wore me out.

I asked around. CLab mentioned this place as one where bb posted. So I decided to give it a try.

Welcome aboard. If you don't drink the Kool-Aid over there, they'll find a reason to get rid of you. You'll find this place much less crooked/fascistic.

Welcome.
BTW,when one of the "admins" asks you for your address to send you your football phone(s),for the love of God give them a UPS store address or something.
Also,do not open any email containing images.
You can't say you weren't warned.
Carry on and enjoy your stay.

I was a subscriber at the Scout board from 2000-2003, jumped ship when it seemed like every other post was about Chad v. Quinthy and it got kind of ridiculous. Followed some people to TheCowboys.net, later Cowboys Zone or Happy, Happy, Feel Good Zone as some know it. I was an original member at DCC and basically hung out there almost exclusively until a couple of years ago.

I haven't really been active anywhere for awhile as I stopped following every single move the Cowboys made and have kind of morphed into a training camp to end of season type. Quite a departure from my previous forty years as a fan when I latched onto every tidbit about the Cowboys that I could but there's just been too much crap going on at home to follow them like I used to.

What was your username at the DCC?
