The whole back and forth was incredible and surreal. I can understand both sides, if we're being honest. I can understand Ukraine's distrust of Russia and not wanting to give up land. But I can see Trump's point too. This thing goes far deeper than Ukraine good and Putin bad. That's for simple minded fucks like IK. The Ukraine opposition, with the backing of the US, overthrew their democratically elected government and then pushed for NATO inclusion at a time when NATO was expanding to Russia's border despite assertions that it wouldn't happen by previous US administrations.
There could have been peace but the US and the EU didn't want it. Now Trump is dealing with a fucking mess created by the mentally challenged dementia patient that occupied the oval office before him. There is no end game here. The North Koreans are involved and it's a matter of time before things get even more out of hand and other countries start supporting Russia with arms and troops. Trump is right when he told this fool that he's playing with WW3. Matter of fact, I think Zelenski wants to drag the US further into this conflict. Fuck him and fuck people that want this war to drag on with a nuclear superpower.
I agree with you generally, but I have a few points.
First, Trump is right. This was started because Biden was an incompetent.
But the reality is, it did start. Russia was the aggressor although I can understand why talk of Ukraine joining NATO upset them. Now that the war has started, Ukraine cannot win and no one is going to be willing to put boots on the ground to help them. Zelensky has a choice, a forever war with Russia with the backing of the US and Europe, or a negotiated peace. No one wants a forever war that drains resources from all countries involved.
That means only a negotiated peace is a realistic solution. But for that to happen, both sides will have to give up something. It sucks for Ukraine, but losing some land is better than losing the entire country. Trump understands this but Zelensky is unwilling to accept it.
What is clear is Zelensky want some guarantees that if he signs a peace deal Russia will not resume the invasion at a later date. He wants US troops on the ground. No way Trump will agree to that. Or he wants to join NATO and there is no way Russia agrees to that.
Trump is right in every way about this war.
Also, Trump is not favoring Putin. He is trying not to show too much favor to either side. He cannot negotiate with Putin if he is antagonistic to Putin. Putin, and Trump, knows he will win this war eventually.
