typo, not $100B, meant over $10B
the NYT based on the tax and bank documents he's about to be indicted over ... he inherited $400+M, by 1984 (age 40), the SP500 was below 175, it's currently at 3,500 ... cap gains and dividends puts it well over $10B
You are so disingenuous and think that people here are as lazy as you. You take a stat, omit relevant facts and then purport it to be accurate without any homework or basic research.
Donald Trump, according to the Times, inherited 413 million in TODAY's dollars (2018). The fact that you omit that detail is telling just how disingenuous you are. You make it seem like he inherited 413 million when his father passed away. In addition, had Trump invested his money in stocks that track the S&P 500, he would be worth 1.96 billion. Not 10 billion as you claim:

But let's just take your point and say he'd be worth billions had he invested his inheritance. So what? He took that money, bought properties and rebuilt the NY skyline. That much is a fact. He employed people and paid more in taxes than any of us would make in 100 lifetimes. He built hotels and bought real-estate all over the world. he took his dad's local real estate business in Brooklyn and took it to Manhattan and internationally.
Do millionaires and billionaires try to find tax shelters to protect their money? You bet. I would too. These guys hire accounting firms and probably pay them millions in fees to save millions in taxes. Nothing new here.
