I don't recall if I posted this before, but people need to read the police report to understand what actually happened. First, let me note that Hegseth is what some might refer to as a "horn dog". The guy is a serial cheater, having cheated on his first two wives, and a known philanderer.
In this case, the woman accuser claims he assaulted her in his hotel room, after taking her phone away from her. She claims she might have been drugged and her memory of the details of the night in question are sketchy. For example, she does not recall how she wound up in Hegseth's hotel room. But multiple witnesses who saw her at various times during the night told police she looked normal, and not drunk or drugged. She was seen walking arm in arm with Hegseth when they left the bar and presumably headed for Hegseth's hotel room. While she was hanging out with Hegseth, her husband was clearly growing suspicious. He even went to the bar she claimed she was at with friends and Hegseth, but she had left by the time her husband arrived.
She did not file the complaint until 4 days after the alleged incident occurred.
Based on the police report, it sounds like the woman had consensual sex with Hegseth. She is married. Her husband became suspicious and she concocted the sexual assault story. She does not claim they had sex. She claims she cannot recall the details of what happened. She only remembers Hegseth on top of her finishing on her stomach.
I suspect Hegseth paid her off because he did not want to go to court and have his history of philandering documented for public consumption. I also think a lawsuit would have prompted other women who have a political ax to grind to come out and make similar claims against him - like what happened with Brett Kavanaugh.
He could lose a civil case depending on the jury as well. Look what happened to Trump with E Jean Carroll. But on the facts, this accusation looks very shady. I do not believe her and no man should lose a court case when the victim can't remember any details, unless there is other evidence a crime has been committed.
