Is that why they voted against it? Or was it because the compromise bill included raising the debt ceiling by $5 trillion without any reciprocal spending cuts?

I am with Chip Roy on this. Why is borrowing money bad when we have a Dem president, but acceptable when Trump is president? Debt is debt and we need to hold the line at some point.

I favor what Thomas Massie has proposed. Vote on separate bills for each topic rather than cramming it all in to one all or nothing bill. If we are going to raise the debt ceiling again, then put it to a separate vote.


I keep reading articles stating Trump wants to raise or remove the debt ceiling but I cant find where they're taking the quote from so I'm dubious of this claim as it seems to me this would run contrary to DOGE and the philosophy of MAGA, if anything it should be reduced or removed as an option entirely (meaning no borrowing, they can only spend what they receive).

Does anyone know when and where he spoke on this issue so I can see how out of context or twisted his words were spun?
