California faces worsening grid challenges on Monday and Tuesday

Demand for power approaching record levels; CAISO calls for even greater reductions in electricity use.

The power grid operator expects to call on Californians for voluntary energy conservation via Flex alerts over the long weekend.

During a Flex Alert, consumers are urged to reduce energy use from 4-9 p.m. when the system is most stressed because demand for electricity remains high and there is less solar energy available. The top three conservation actions are to set thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, avoid using large appliances and charging electric vehicles, and turn off unnecessary lights.

People were urged to turn off appliances, turn up their thermostats and avoid charging electric vehicles during the peak hours.

More than 20,000 customers in North Bay, East Bay and South Bay were without power Monday afternoon.

Temps in Sacramento reached 115 degrees today and now customers in the area are without power.

President Biden recently announced student loan debt relief for millions of Americans, attracting both praise and criticism. How did American students become so burdened with debt in the first place? Josh Mitchell is a reporter for The Wall Street Journal and his new book "The Debt Trap" traces the roots and explosive growth of the $1.7 trillion student debt behemoth. Mitchell speaks with Hari Sreenivasan about why he believes a lot more needs to be done to break the debt cycle.

The average student loan debt is $30k, less than half the average price of an EV. It is absurd to claim this is a crisis and force taxpayers to fund debt relief, which is clearly a political ploy.

And, as the guy in the video states, Biden is doing nothing to address the root problem so we will face the same debt crisis again in the future.

This all started back in 2008 when we bailed out people who bought expensive homes and then when their homes dropped in price, lower than their mortgages, they we bailed out either with debt reductions or other payments. The taxpayers were called into fund the dumb choices of others, many of who just stopped paying their mortgages while they continued to live in their foreclosed homes for 3 years!

As a person who tool out student loans after my dad died while I was a sophomore in college, I am offended by this give-away. I paid my college loans and I saved money and paid for the education of both of my kids. It is called responsibility and for some reason we are trying to end responsibility - probably because the government really wants to control our kids.

There is no excuse for the high cost of a college education, especially for studies that will never pay enough to make the cost justifiable.

Perhaps they should change the program so that money is handed out based on the value of the student's major and the potential for success, like most investment calculation. If you major in women's studies you get nothing because your degree will be worth nothing. If you major in engineering and you maintain a good GPA, you get more money. But in all cases you must pay it back.

And btw, of course Biden's program to provide debt relief is unconstitutional. The president has not more authority to throw money at student debt than Trump had to build the border wall. The money must come from congress. If congress refused to pass a debt relief bill, then Biden cannot simply overrule them. He is acting like a dictator.

Also, the plan to provide relief for those making under $125k is also going to be challenged in court. Where in the constitutional is he allowed to treat some Americans differently than others based on income? The graduated tax only passed because everyone is taxed the same for the same levels of income. The federal government is out of control when it comes to stretching the constitution. It needs to stop.

You must destroy the icons of the past to lay the ground for a new future. This is what the Nazis and Stalinists did as the took power. You cannot have heroes like the founding fathers in America if you want to replace freedom with a socialist tyranny. The same goes for religion. Those who do not serve the state first will always be considered a threat to the totalitarian regime. Henry VIII figured that out.
Its truly sad. History is absolutely repeating itself and people not only in this country, but all around the world are completely oblivious to it or how it could happen.

Americans were completely outsmarted. Leftists infiltrated our schools and brainwashed our kids to the point where we have a whole generation of young people who literally hate the country. They've warped there minds so fucking bad that these kids are mutilating themselves and having their balls clipped. They've warped black Americans into believing that white folks are their enemy to the point that we now have blatant reverse discrimination. And the leftists also infiltrated the media to where they now control the narrative.

It's going to get worse. Much, much worse. And it's all part of a large, twisted plan/ This is Obama's third term and he's trying to finish what he started. He's the largest fraud to the black community and if they're not careful, they'll be all alone while Latinos, Asians and others wake up to the reality and see what's happening.

IF (and that's BIG IF) Trump runs and wins the election, I can absolutely see a scenario where he's not allowed to take office. The Dems are taking the country to a very dangerous place. It all started with the election fraud and continued into January 6th. Those people are truly political prisoners who who have become sacrificial lambs to promote a much larger and false narrative.
