This is almost as stupid (not quite} as the Garrett fascination. Name one team besides this one that would do this.jerry will always love his misfits

That’s just perfect
The guy has been extended indefinitely for smoking dope. Let’s just extend his contract to 2020 even after we know he won’t make it to the field
You gotta love this front office
Except this is Jerry we are talking about here, and we all know "foresight" isnt exactly his middle name.To me it’s pretty clear what they’re doing. They are wanting to keep him around until the next CBA is done because that’s when they will make weed legal in the NFL. He may have his mental issues but he does also have talent on the field. If you can control his rights for the vet min until the CBA is changed and he’s not costing you a roster spot, I don’t see what the harm is. Unlike Irving, Randy Gregory has shown that he will continue to work on his body while he’s out and can (and more importantly wants to) contribute when he returns.

This idiot is struggling with weed when it’s illegal and he’s not able to smoke it.
And you think he will be functional when weed becomes legal and he can smoke it at will????
This idiot (like Irving) will be useless to society at that point
Kiss them good bye, along with a large groups of other players from all teams who will allow their weed smokin to interfere with their nfl career
You’re clearly not familiar with the weed culture in America. People smoke it at will right now even though it’s illegal. I guarantee you that Gregory smokes it at will right now too. It’s not like some magical flood gates are going to open once it’s made legal. It just means he won’t be getting suspended for doing something he’s already doing.
And there is a big difference between Gregory and Irving. Outside of breaking the weed rule Gregory actually wants to play. He always shows up for workouts, meetings, and rehab assignments. Every person to a man on team (player and front office) loves the guy. Irving is a narcissistic loon that doesn’t give a crap about football, much less his teammates. He made zero effort to come back from a high ankle sprain and basically quit on the team. I bet you’d be hard pressed to find 1 single person in the organization that actually likes Irving as a person.
Again, Gregory was given a vet min deal and will not cost the team a roster spot. Again, I don’t see what the big deal is to hold on to the rights to a young talented DE.
Gregory is a guy who put smoking weed ahead of his NFL career.
He knew the consequences of smoking weed and continued to do so. He is suspended indefinitely! He knew that was the outcome if he continued to smoke weed after he was reinstated
He’s an idiot, plain and simple!
Plus he has never lived up to his potential.
He has been a wasted 2nd round pick. We could have spent that 2nd round pick on a player who would have been available and be able to contribute to the team during the same time period that we have wasted on Gregory
Well if you look at the guys that were drafted after him Frank Clark is the only one they really should have drafted instead. Other than that Gregory is still a better player than any of those guys drafted in the 2nd round after Gregory was taken.
He may be a better player, but how much is his talent helping us right now?
He is suspended indefinitely
He has been suspended every year since we drafted him.
His talent is a moot point if he can’t make it on the field.
He had 1 career sack in his first 3 seasons
That is a complete bust and waste of a second round pick
lol ok
He had 6 sacks last season.
Again, vet min and isn’t costing a roster spot. When weed is made legal in the NFL then the suspensions won’t be an issue.
plus he doesnt get paid while suspended right? If true, then no effect on the roster space or salary cap so why not tie him up?

And that makes 7 for his career total in 4 years
He’s a bust
He may be an affordable cheap bust
But he’s still a bust
Technically he’s only played 3 seasons not 4. And one could look at it as he showed vast improvement this year (which he did). Other than some bad PR from the “holier than thou” people like yourself there is literally no downside to extending Randy Gregory for the vet min.
