fuck him, let him go elsewhere and spend the 20 million on several players, that's over 10% of the cap, no?

I believe it is. Now that % would decrease as the cap goes up over the length of the contract but it’s definitely a crap ton of money and a huge chunk of the cap for a player that will miss about half of the first year of that contract and has a history of being injured or suspended.

Exactly

This deal should have been done a long time ago. They could have had it worked out as soon as last season ended.

Then he would have been back in time for a full preseason and been ready to go 100% for the start of the season

This is from a couple of days ago but both sides are using his surgery as part of their negotiations.

I’ve been saying that they should consider trading Byron. They’re not going to be able to pay Lawrence, Byron, Cooper, Dak, and Zeke. Especially when you have Jaylon that is going to have to be paid soon too. With Kris Richard on board Byron would be the easiest to replace.

I saw that quote too

Jeruh seems to be pretty level headed in these negotiations. I fully expected him to throw truckloads at D Law to lock up the war daddy he has been after since D Ware left.

I’m happy to see that baby Jeruh seems to be managing the money a little better than dear ole dad. Or at least he’s keeping dear ole dad from overspending nowadays

NFL Network about to give news on Robert Quinn. The trade is done between the Cowboys and Dolphins for Quinn

Maybe this will help the talks with D Law get done now that his agent knows we have a replacement for him.

But it sure would be nice to have Quinn at RDE and D Law at LDE

That would make for a stout pass rush

He is not worth that kind of money with his drug suspension history and his injury history.

If he had a flawless history with his current stats then I’d consider it

But he has been injured often, he currently requires surgery and will miss a good portion of this upcoming season and he has missed games in the past due to suspension

They should have not fucked around and just offered him what it would have taken to sign him in the first place

Now his ego is injured and he’s asking for more than he is worth, he is allowing his agent to push for more and more money, and to top it all off, if he does finally sign with us he will then have his surgery and miss a good portion of this season. Whereas if we got this deal done fist thing he could have had his surgery already and be ready to go by the start of the season

His "drug" history was supposedly a PED ingredient any slob can get at a GNC.

He has played every game the past two seasons. He played both those seasons with a torn labrum, and put up huge numbers anyway. He's the best player on the defense by a mile and he's only 26.

The delaying the surgery thing was really stupid on his part. Jerry Jones is a moron, but his comments the other day about a guy warranting the kind of money DLaw is wanting being available for the entire first season of that deal is valid. Granted an injury could happen anytime, but this was something he has known since December he needed to do, and tried to hold the Cowboy hostage with it. I think his agent gave him really bad advice, because it will ultimately drive down his value not only here, but any team that we could potentially trade him to is going to have the same stance.

He's a really, really good player. If he isn't here for whatever reason we're a lesser team.

Now if we knew Taco Charlton was going to emerge and become a reliable player, maybe you think about trading DLaw more. But we don't have anyone remotely close to that level of play.

That was actually his original demand ($20/per) but the team offered $17/per. Apparently he felt disrespected and when the team increased its offer to meet his demands of $20/per he changed his mind and now wants $22.5/per. I would love it if they could resign him but honestly you have to explore all options. If a team is willing to give you a 1st and a 3rd in this year’s draft or a 2nd this year and 1st next year you have to consider it.

He wants a 6 year 140 million dollar contract with 85 Mil Guaranteed. That's 23.3 a year. We're also not getting shit for him in a trade let alone a 1st and a 3rd. We'd be lucky to get a 4th and that's wishful thinking. He has priced himself at Mack level, so all teams have to do is wait it out and sign him for that or less without giving up any picks in the off season.

I disagree with that completely. You underestimate the value elite pass rushers have in this league. Regardless of how much he wants the fact is he is one of these “war daddy’s” that Jerry was referring to. Without question he’s an elite pass rusher, and he’s in his prime. Is he at Mack’s or Donald’s level of elite, nope but he is in the tier right behind those guys. If the Cowboys were seriously looking to trade him there will be a team that would be willing to pay. A 1st in next year’s draft is the equivalent of a 2nd in this year’s draft. I don’t think they’d have any problem getting finding a team borderline playoff team willing to give them a 2nd or 3rd in this draft and next year’s first. Especially if that team though Lawrence would put them over the top.

It's not going to cost them more contract wise if they wait for the off season because he is already at Mack asking price. So why give up a high pick for him now? This is why the Patriots move their players the year prior to something like this happening.

The alternate scenario would be a team that wanted him to play for them this season. In which case they'd be giving him his asking price, a 1st and a 3rd for a player that hasn't had his surgery yet? I'm not a GM, but if I were I'd wait for the off season and keep the picks.

Don’t get me wrong, I want us to sign him. But he has missed games due to both injury and suspension since he has been here.

Granted, the last two seasons he has played thru injury and played well. But he has been injured. Now he needs surgery.

Had he taken care of the surgery right after last season ended I’d be 100% on board with giving him what he wants. That would continue to show that he is a team player.

But he is using his surgery as a bargaining chip/threat. That I don’t agree with.

He wanted $20m and we offered him $17. He didn’t take the offer. No big deal, I wouldn’t expect him to. But then we offer him his asking price of $20m per year and now he says that’s not good enough and that he wants $22.5-23m per year? All because he’s butthurt that we didn’t give him what he wanted in the first place? Fuck that!

I would love to see both Tank and Quinn on the field next season. That would make for a killer pass rush. But I can easily see this thing going sideways and Tank being used as trade bait.

Byron Jones just decided to have hip surgery after his name came up in trade talks. LOL! This organization.

They said it was more of a clean up procedure. It doesn’t sound like anything too serious.

But just like Tank, if he needed this surgery he should have had it taken care of at the end of last season

That’s just perfect

The guy has been extended indefinitely for smoking dope. Let’s just extend his contract to 2020 even after we know he won’t make it to the field

You gotta love this front office
