45 last year nabbed us Sean Lee give or take a few picks

55th

no doubt that is a huge risk. But paul was a boom or bust at a position they were loaded at in the first round.

I dont think claiborne is risky at all and I imagine by the time the season starts and we have 4 solid corners to match up with ny, philly, washington, the saints etc....no one will remember 45.

now if something happens and he is poor, yea pour it on..

Is everyone gonna be slightly less pissed if we trade back up for Konz or are we still mortgaging our future?

I was thinking more along the lines that with Jenkins, Carr, and Scandrick assuming Jenkins injury was healed we were ok in the secondary and that claibore although much better than Jenkns. The pick was not a neccessity

They were ranked in the mid 20s and the NFC east has 4 legit QBs now.

I wanted OL and DL addressed, but I don't trust Jerry. Sounds like we would have ended up with Brockers and who the hell knows in at 45. At least we have a bluechipper now.

I think the Dez Bryant pick was similar. WR wasn’t a necessity at the time although years later it’s a position of need. Jenkins probably has something wrong with him. Maybe they are concerned about his health or something else. If that is the case, getting his replacement is of great importance. You got him a year sooner...big deal. When it comes to the cornerback position, you can’t have enough good ones. What games have you guys been watching? Worst secondary in the history of the Cowboys, good god!

Nor sure how much of that was on Jenkins' tab. In terms of culprits, he'd be last on the list.

Quality over quantity.

4-6 blue chip players in the draft. We got 1 of them.

Draft isn't even over. I'm not crying over a lost 2nd rounder at this point.

There was literally noone to get excited about at 14. Dudes with huge question marks, JAGs like Decastro who went much later, maybe we could have settled on Kirkpatrick.

We go out and get a stud rather than settle.

Boo hoo.

You are dismissing the fact that we gave up a second round pick to get claibourne. And for a team that is not a super bowl contender as you say. We need as many high round picks as possible.

Again. I'm not against getting Claiboure, but I'm not sure it was the best decision for our team moving forward unless we can somehow jump back into the second round and get a Cordy Glenn or Konz

I get that. I think the big mystery is the offensive line. I think we need a center without question. I get that very scary feeling that they feel callahan is going to turn what is here into a good group. that is very scary even though callahan has a history of doing that I still dont buy it.

I think the right guard spot will work itself out, I dont think the center position can though.

and for what its worth I am not sure if any of the offensive lineman we have had interest in if that stuff is accurate make it to 45.

Are we a better off with Claiborne, Carr, Scandrick or
Jenkins, Carr, Scandrick, Fletcher Cox(insert your pick), Konz

That's my only hesitation with the deal

Or Decastro and a Pass rusher in the second

not in 2010. he was horrendous and almost nearly by himself ruined september and october.

When healthy he played better last year, just wasnt healthy down the stretch and showed guts.
the issue with him is the new contract.

so considering they wont give him the big money deal, you can view the corners as not a weakness until it is, which it would be next year when jenkins walks.

Forget the squandered second rounder. It wouldn't have made sense even if we had the sixth pick all along. The G-men didn't need a "lockdown" corner to win another SB and neither do we. There were higher priorities.

would we have got cox? We were not going to go up for him and philly did.

and I dont think konz makes it to 45.

I would have been happy with a defensive lineman and an offensive lineman in any pairing. Zietler seemed like a good fit.

the giants secondary is littered with 1st and 2nd round picks and very expensive free agents?

so why is it ok for them to load a very difficult position with top guys but we cant?

Maybe not on cox, but Konz is supposedly going in the mid 50's now.

Then find a Corey Webster type that won't cost you an arm and a leg and instead address bigger needs.

Good Point

I'm just saying it seems like people are just mad because we didn't address what they felt we should address rather than be excited that we got a top 5 player in this draft for a second round pick.

If we tried to trade jenkins and our second for Champ Bailey even at his age the Broncos would laugh in our faces. We got a guy who looks like Champ, is naturally fluid and plays the ball in the air like a WR.

Everyone had their heart set on line help. I get it. Draft isn't over.

Not a chance. And I hated almost everyone else that could have dropped to us.

I wanted to go up for decastro last night. Give next years 1 for him when he got to 20. maybe that is crazy talk I dont know, but I would have done it and been happy to have filled two needs with two high character, self motivated talents.
