We use one to stay alive and the other to bet on.

Boom.

GTFO of my face.

Grade: F

Not only did you not adequately explain the difference, but you've now confused the issue even further. Because now you have to explain to the alien why we will allow other sport where we abuse, but bet on animals - such as horse racing. In addition, you have to explain why dog fighting continues to be abhorrent even if we were to eat the meat after, and you have to explain why we are "staying alive" off the suffering of animals when we have other options. Try again.

Never did understand the .223 as a combat round. Perfect for a 30 pound coyote, to small for a 100 pound deer, yet everyone's round of choice to shoot an armed 200 pound man?

100 pound deer? Are you shooting the fawns? The whitetail and muledeer up here dress out at 150lbs+. 230lb+ live weight

And the 5.56 M16A1/A2 round is designed as a tumbling round. When it strikes it's target, it will begin tumbling and will ricochet around, causing more damage. It wasn't uncommon for somebody to be shot in the front of the shoulder and the exit wound to be in the lower back. Maximum damage. Not something you'd want to shoot a deer with that you were planning on butchering for food.

I am sure that you don't have a problem with cock fighting. Of course your definition of cock fighting doesn't have anything to do with a damn chicken.

Two valid points, but I dont think that wins the argument. Any round with a reputation for needing two shots to put a man down over a 100 yards is not what I would want to be my main bitch, no matter what the US military feels about soldiers being better off able to carry more rounds (I dont plan any 30 mile hikes).

I've never heard this round has the reputation of needing two shots to put a man down. Are you referring to the 'double tap'? That's a fighting style, not an indictment on the round being used. In fact, it is quite the opposite, as I explained when talking about it being a tumbling round. This round will shred the shit it hits. But it's main strenth point is also it's main weakness. Fighting in wide open areas, such as Afghanistan or Iraq, it's fine. But during it's first widespread use, in Vietnam, it struggled mightily. Because of it's design to tumble, it will do so the moment it contacts anything. A leaf, branch, blade of grass, etc... And in doing so, it loses it's accuracy. About 99% of the time in Vietnam, it was fired in a situation like this.

But as a round all by itself, it has more than enough killing capability to down a man with one shot.

Interesting, I was refering to the complaints of soldiers in Vietnam after switching from the M14 to the M16.

Also, I was referring to a paper I read one time that said the main reason the .223 was chosen over the .308 was weight concerns while the .308 was found to be superior. (yea, I know they have metic names, but I cant remember that foriegn gobbiltygook.

Next time, on "Two Senile Old Fucks Talk Ammunition"...

I guess we could go back to talking about your retarded assumption that dog fighting and hunting are similar. Or that wrestling is a violent sport. Or that people were unable to preserve their food stores before refrigeration was available. Or pretty much any other stupid fucking thing that manages to fall out of your ignorant mouth.

Or we could just..... No u.

There is no making this shit up. You really believe that, huh?

Dwarf on, Hos.

I only see that dogs get preferential treatment because a lot of people keep them as pets. Killing a random dog is cruel but coyotes are fucked. Most animals get the shaft but dogs and cats get to be special for very obvious reason.

I still maintain that if you are a baby boomer and buy into this notion of moral descent then I think some serious introspection is in order.

For every youtube anecdote you want to trot out I can talk about how the current generation treats bullying. Prior ones took treating people like shit to be a right of passage. It's just different people doing different things.

Baby boomers and anti bullying people are both pussies.

Nobody said eating an animal, any animal, is immoral. Some are a little gross, but not immoral.

Now watching two highly emotional animals slowly fight to the death for our amusement, that is different the eating animals, any animals.

Sure lets just strap shit that drives them nuts around their waists and hit them with cattle prods.

Yeah and stopping those that prey on the weak is just cowardly.

And yes I draw a very clear and disticnt line between humans and animals. I don't really buy into this degrees of cruelty towards animals. Either it's cruel or it's not. But WOOOHHOOOO RODEO!!!!

I knew this phillipino girl and of course we made fun of her about eating dog. This is Texas after all. One time somebody mentioned cat and she said cat was too bitter. I thought that hilarious.
