This is definitely true, but at some point we're going to need guys that are just good at blitzing. We can't always rely on the scheme to get them through the LOS.

Wade's blitzes looked ok to me in 2008 and 2009, but the film caught up to him in 2010. While his blitzes did prove to be predictable, the players shouldn't be held without blame.

Just look at Pittsburgh, for example. They've had the same DC and same system in place forever now, but yet the film hasn't caught up with them.

Why is that? Because their ILB's and safeties have always been solid blitzers. Just look at Polomalu, that guy almost never gets stonewalled. Whether he's coming from the corner or shooting through the line, he's almost a guarantee to cause havoc.

We need to find guys who don't need to always depend on smoke and mirrors to cause pressure.

You made too much sense, I must ask you to leave this forum.

Absolutely, and I certainly don't mean to put all the blame on Wade.
Like you said earlier,we have guys that just don't get in the backfield.

The Eagles(under Johnson) are another good example of what you say.

Oh yeah, and you've simply got to be less reasonable in your discussions.

There's certainly some truth there about other teams catching up to Wade's defensive schemes, but to me much of it seemed to be out & out laziness in developing a defensive game plan– including blitz packages.

The only blitzes this defense seemed to run was rushing one or both of the inside linebackers.

The numbers have been posted elsewhere showing the lack of blitzes by anyone in the secondary as compare to teams that had a more aggressive reputation in 2010 like Pittsburgh and the New York Jets. Ryan's Brown defense also blitzed out of the secondary far more than the Cowboy defense did.

Again, for me it goes back to a lazy training camp and lazy defensive planning.

I don't know if the planning was lazy, but if you don't practice to be a physical and aggressive team then I don't know how you can expect them to play that way in games.

Just eliminating that issue makes this team better.

There's a reason why Jimmy killed his teams in preparation. Parcells did it too. I read an article on Landry once that illustrated how hard they worked during the week. Great coaches make gameday the easiest of the week. With Wade, the games were the hardest. You came in unprepared to match the intensity of the other team. Now sometimes you can overcome that with talent, but you'll never win enough playing with that handicap. There's too much parity in the league.

Garrett talks a good game on this. And I believe he's sincere. It's the way he knows as a player. So as far as I'm concerned we already corrected this issue. Now it's a matter of getting the players we need. We can not compete if we continue to screw the pooch in the war room every April. That has to change.

Yep. I agree with that.

Yup, by the end of his tenure that seemed to be the only blitzes Wade was throwing out there.

ILB's up the middle, leave middle exposed for big passing play, repeat.

I don't know if that was due to laziness or not, but he simply wasn't much of an adjuster. I noticed that Wade was only as good as his gameplans. You could get a feel early on as to what type of game you could expect from the defense that particular day.

If the defense was getting exposed early, then the rest of the game went the same way. He simply didn't look like a guy who knew what to do when the offense threw something at him that he wasn't anticipating.
