I wonder what kind of effort Newman gives you all year long with the writing on the wall?

How many business decisions will he make when push comes ot shove in the open field?

I would not be surprised if Newman is let go before the season starts, something has been off concerning him all training camp.

With that said he still has to play another contract I can't see him just mailing it in.

No Way to a bradie extension. They just took two lb's in round 2. They need to dink ow swim while the cowboys invest money and pucks into the ol and secondary

You guys keep joking about Spencer, but we had better sign him. The numbers just have to be right. Fans bag on the guy all the time but players in the league know he is good.

Eric Winston plays in a celebrity softball game every year in Austin ...the reckless Kelly softball jam. For the second year in a row the show I work for shot it, in fact doctor32 who posts here is the director. Anyway Winston told doctor32 that Spencer is an animal and is extremely hard to block and is very physical.

This is something I saw chocolate lab talking about on the zone earlier today..same things were said apparently from the chargers players....

We need Spencer we just can't overpay.

What if he goes for 12-15 sacks this year?

Can we even afford to pay the guy?

What? Orlando Scandrick gets that kind of money?

You have got to be joking me.

Its not that much. He got 10 mils guaranteed, so thats 2mil per season vs the cap. He probably got minimum salaries the first couple of years so his overall cap charge is low. They apparently see him as a true starter.

We probably got a bargain compared to what he would have cost next yr as a true free agent.

I don't understand the thought that went into this.

Lock up a guy who has struggled to be decent? Even saying decent is a stretch, imo.

He's not garbage, but I believe he's a dime a dozen 3rd CB that you can afford to lose.

He certainly struggled early last yr, but he played very well the 2nd half of the season after Wade was fired. Ryan obviously loves him, if he feels strongly he fits the scheme and can start, this was a smart move.

That would probably cause a problem when talking contract.

I would tag him if he pulled That off, but what if he's just pretty good? Do you Invest in him knowing he's so up and down and also lazy? It would be a Shame to open up a hole when you already need a safety, a DE, and a G/C. But otoh a big fat Spencer extension could easily backfire

If he goes for 12-15 sacks, is it smart to let him go?

I don't know. If he goes for 12-15 sacks this year, does that make him a 12-15 sack guy?

Can you pay him what he'd command when he obviously played out of his mind in a contract year?

I think they made the move on the wrong player, myself. If you're going to sign a guy on the cheap that you think is going to cost you more in the offseason, I would have signed Spencer to a decent deal right now. Not a 3rd CB that has been up and down at best, with his ups being nothing to write home about.

It's a gamble that I hope pays off.

Spencer falls under the same category as Spears, imo. He's a player that I want on the team, but at the same time, you don't want to see the powers that be break the bank for him.

That is the problem. Ifyousign him he may produce even less over the life of the contract and if you don't where in the he'll are we going to find a solb who can play the run and rush the passer without using the first round pick or spending a fortune...

This is a huge year for the future of this organization. We have needs allover the place coupled with contracts ending.

The idea that rob Ryan will be a head coach in demand next year I don't buy at all. I think he has to prove himself over at least two years here. I also dont think there will be that many jobs available. Cincy and Miami for sure and maybe Oakland......but I dont see Ryan leaving anytime soon so hopefully he can build his own defense here.

Not a Bradie fan either but Brooking, Spencer, and James are free agents after this season. Not sure if I'm ready for a 2012 starting linebacker quartet of Ware, Lee, Carter, and Butler. James may need to stick around until Carter shows he is 100% healthy.

I'll agree to this, but unless Spencer just absolutly blows up(10-12 sacks) then I can see us affording him. He's not going to command alot of money for the production he's been putting up. But then again Canty got 35 mil, so what the fuck do I know.
