Isn't he 30 or 31? I'll take it, but would rather develop and keep our own good players like Theebs said.

Watch the Skins sign Jenkins too.

This does play into my idea that you can sign your own draftees and get a cap break on his deal. So if we signed him to the same deal only about 90% of his base would count against the cap.

You guys no more about Bowen than me, but what makes me happy about it is Jenkins wanted more money and they told him to shove it. That would never happen in the past and I'm not sure the Cowboys should try to sign him if he threw up a sum large enough to make the Redskins turn his back on him. I saw a transcript of an interview his bro did on a radio station and he said something to the effect of he got his ring, now he wants to get paid. No thanks.

Hurts to lose this player. Very underrated.

But is he worth that much?

Never seen a team that goes after divisional rival teams' players like the Redskins. And the thing is, it never has worked out for them. They are either taking players from the Cowboys, Giants, or the Eagles.

Its a easy way to scout. You play them twice a year soooooooooo...............

But you guys overpaid for Bowen so I'm not sure about that one. Like the Giants did when they signed Canty.

12 million guarateed as opposed to the 20-25 Jenkins is probably asking for isn't too bad. Emerging backups will always cost a little more than what they're worth. If Spears didn't get hurt and Bowen didn't get any starts last year his price would have been lower.

I like bowen the same way I liked kenyon coleman in 06.

The jets decided as a full time player coleman was worth any penny...then he was sent to cleveland with eric mangini who loved him.

I wouldnt be suprised to see the same with bowen. I love bowen though and this sucks for us.

on a side note, I bet we get coleman back all these years after parcells pulled him from the raiders practice squad. He will be a good role player here.

4 significant signings in about 10 years before this offseason. Armstead and Griffin worked out, McNabb and Trotter did not. The Giants got one of their defensive cornerstones off of the Redskins, the Cowboys got T.O from Philly. I believe the term is "free" agents.

Spears/Jenkins/Coleman maybe

that would be great with ratliff, brent, lissemore, gaethers and igor.

Do you think we could afford two bowen like contracts for jenkins and spears though....it doesnt seem like we can or would.

So I imagine we end up with 1 of those two and coleman.

It does make sense though to sign Coleman and re-sign Spears.

I can live with that if we don't land Jenkins. We would stay younger that way.

I thought that's what it would take to sign Jenkins....Bowen got PAID props to him

Yeah a backup getting paid that kind of money. Is it any wonder as to why the Redskins are in the place that they are? You know, having alot of cap room can work against you, when you account for the 90% rule. Becuase oftentimes it will cause you to spend money like this on players like this.

True. But do you notice that it's always the Redskins going after either the Cowboys, Giants, and Eagles' players, and oftentimes not the other way around?

It'd made more sense to have overpaid Jenkins that to have overpaid Bowens. It eve made more sense for the Giants to have overpaid for Canty, because to Canty's defense, he was a starter from day 1 with the Cowboys.

I think Spears can come back at half the price of Jenkins/Bowen. Coming off an injury and no real upside

I'm not sure how Bowen managed to trick Danny into that type of coin...probably used some laser pointer or flashy mirror. He didn't do us any damn favors though....I hope we can get Spears for half of that, but I don't see how. A backup getting paid like that sucks for our negotiations at DE.
