Answer some, all, none, whatever.

1. How is it Dak and Dez had such great chemistry in the preseason, yet he gets 1 catch for 8 yards yesterday?

2. Going back even into the TO81 days, but is it me or our are elite blue chip receiver too easily turned into complete non-factors under the Garrett offense? If so, why?

3. Has your tone on EE changed? Why was EE getting 2.5 yards a carry but Alfred Morris running harder/stronger? Still happy we took EE at fourth overall?

4. Hindsight is 20/20, but did you agree with Garretts use of timeouts prior to the 2 minute warning?

5. Does it disgust you like it does me that Garrett just ran by TWill and gave him an encouraging back pat immediately post game? With such a bonehead decision, why isn't Garrett pissed and letting a player feel his wrath? What kind of message does this send to everyone else? Or am I overthinking this?

I don't think they wanted a rookie like Dak throwing into double coverage. Of course, we could put Dez in the slot or in motion from time to time, but stubborn Red says "no."

I was surprised by how small he looked on the field, almost like a change of pace gadget back. I wonder if he can sustain the pounding or break tackles consistently. Nor do I see elite "take it to the house" speed.

Wait... was Dez doubled the whole game? Because I'm going to re-watch it later but it looked like the Giants were hell bent on stopping the run/EE. Which they did.

So the Giants were able to both double Dez and shut down the run?

And Garretts offense couldn't take advantage of the Giants dedication of resources to those ends?

Giants gave the under neath stuff all day. They knew that meant a win.

ESPN:

ARLINGTON, Texas -- There’s something fundamentally wrong with any offensive scheme that results in 26 passes being directed toward Jason Witten and Cole Beasley, while Dez Bryant gets only five thrown in his direction.

Bryant caught one pass for eight yards and had no impact in the Dallas Cowboys’ 20-19 loss to the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium. Blame the scheme, not the players.

The fundamental flaw in the timing-based passing offense that coach Jason Garrett and playcaller Scott Linehan use is the scheme lets the defensive coverage dictate where the quarterback throws the ball. They want to attack the man-to-man coverage most of the time, which means when teams double Bryant, he doesn’t get a lot of passes directed his way.

That’s what happened to Bryant on Sunday; he didn’t catch a pass in the game’s last 59:33. It’s only the seventh time Bryant has been held to one catch in his career.

...

The Cowboys didn’t move Bryant around the formation much, and he spent limited time in the slot. He went deep three times with each attempt resulting in an incompletion.

5. The ex-Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson (I know it's soccer but hear me out) always used to defend his players in public and then give them his patented 'hairdryer' treatment once they got back to the locker room.

Maybe Garrett tore Williams a new asshole in the locker room, but he doesn't seem like the type of person that would (or could) give anyone a bollocking. He probably just clapped.

1. Teams weren't scheming to take Dez away in preseason.

2. It's not you. This is a "take what the defense gives you" offense, not a "take what we want" one. Fits Garrett's passive personality.

3. No, I wasn't that high on him in the one preseason game he played. See #1. Also, I'm not sure he's in great shape yet.

4. No.

5. Yes, especially after seeing NY's dorky looking coach ripping Donnell a new one when he screwed up.

1. In preseason teams were not game planning to take Dez out the game.

2. When the coach fails to move his bed player around to exploit mismatches its not hard to see why Dez has games like this.

3. No, my tone hasn't changed. I still think he is going to have a big year and contend for ROY. The Giants have a very good DL, they deserve some credit for stopping Zeke. As for Morris' success against the same defense. At this point Morris is a better NFL player than Zeke. He's been playing against the Giants twice a year for 4 years. Morris was also much more patient in letting his blocks develop.

4. No, was not happy with clock management

5. Garrett seems like the type of coach that coddles players. It's one of the main reasons this team has so many knuckleheads on it.

Nice theory, but we know it is false because this team has made many boneheaded mistakes like this under Garrett's tenure. It does not ever improve. Garrett is just as much a wussy in the locker room as he is in public.

That theory would work if you saw a difference after the constant errors. We keep making the same type of mistakes.

Apparently Dez had a safety shadowed towards him over the top quite a few times.

Dez was targeted what, like 8 times yesterday? Just some bad hands, some bad throws, bad route calls and great coverage. A couple of those plays Dez had DRC's glove in his facemask soon as the ball arrived.

Dez should be running slants, crossing routes and in cuts to death. But they hardly let him for whatever reason.

They are, and it's due to Garrett's influence for sure.

I still remember people almost begging for Garrett to send TO on a slant, or send him in motion pre-snap. I think he acquiesced and did it for like 2 games.

It's just simply not the route or concept Garrett likes to run.

So what are we to conclude:

* he knows he should run slants and motions but just refuses to do it for no good reason?

* he doesn't know he should run slants and motions so he doesn't run them?

* he knows he should run slants and motions but doesn't believe they'll work?

* Other?

I'm positive he knows about them. His offense though is all about fades and comeback routes.
