Margus Hunt looked damn good. I don't know if that Fresno State RT was the Doug Free of college football, but Hunt was unstoppable. Completely relentless. And showed great athleticism.

I was joking with the JJ Watt comparisons, but lets just say I wouldn't be shocked if Jerruh watched that game and decided Hunt was going to be his Watt and took him in the first.

I wanted to talk about some of the players from the last few games. Midswat already touched on some of them.
Margus Hunt, DE, 6-8/285 SMU

Really exploded during this Bowl game. Yes, he was playing a freshman T but if he didn't dominate him that would have been an issue. The guy is older but he is raw, he is huge, his explosion if off the charts, and his motor is stuck on Go. Someone will take this kid in the 1st round.

Phillip Thomas, S, 6-1/215 Fresno State

I wanted to see him dominate this game. He has had some amazing games and earned 1st team AP All-American honors. He is definitely a guy I want to see at the Senior Bowl and the Combine, to see how he compares with bigger school players.

Derek Carr, QB, 6-3/210

Like his tools but he needs to stay in school for his Senior year. He won't go nearly as high as his brother did but he may end up being the better NFL QB, especially if he gets time to develop. He is someone I'd like to see us draft in the middle rounds and groom behind Romo.

Shaq Thompson, S, 6-2/225 Washington

We throw around the Beast label on players too often but this kid is the definition of Beast. Yes, he is only a freshman and not draft eligible until the 2015 draft. Yes, his size might make you think linebacker but this kid runs like a deer. I watched him at the USC Nike camp a few years ago run step for step with guys like Robert Woods, Marqise Lee, and DeAnthony Thomas. I'm thrilled USC misses Washington the next 2 years unless we see them in the Pac12 Championship. Remember this kid's name.

It was only one game, but Derek Carr looked like a David Carr clone. And not the good college David Carr. The Houston Texans shell shocked and befuddled David Carr.

Mind you, he had Margus Hunt all over him that game, but Derek Carr didn't respond well at all. He got happy feet, and his body language was for shits. You could tell he was frustrated and there was no way he looked like he had the mindset of someone who thought he could lead the team back into the game after dropping down 22-0 in the 2nd quarter.

What I like about Demargus Hunt is that he's super tall and rangy. It's just a totally different look than our other front 7 players can bring and I think it would pay off greatly

6:45 PM Pacific/9:45 PM Eastern - Holiday Bowl - UCLA vs Baylor

All Bruins....

Anthony Barr, OLB, 6-4/235 UCLA

Speed-rusher who is still learning the position. He has said he is coming back for his Senior year but I have learned to never believe an underclassmen until after their bowl game.

Jonathan Franklin, RB, 5-11/195 UCLA

IMO the ideal compliment to DeMarco Murray. Runs tough for a smaller back, he can also handle Punt and Kick Return duties. Will be a fixture in Cowboy mock drafts for me.

Joseph Fauria, TE, 6-7/255 UCLA

With John Phillips a free agent and Witten getting slower (yet, still amazing) it may be time to look for a TE. He's not a great blocker but he's a match-up nightmare at 6'7". Too nimble for linebackers and way too big for defensive backs.

Datone Jones, DE, 6-4/275 (I think he's bigger now) UCLA

A few of the board regs were on him early. He's really benefited from Coach Mora and the move to a 3-4 Defense. He's a little like Tyrone Crawford to where he will need to bulk up some in the NFL without losing too much quickness.

UCLA has a few more players I like...Quarterback Brett Hundley has a bright future. TJ's younger brother, Tevin, is a playmaking Free Safety. Both cornerbacks, Aaron Hester (6'1") and Sheldon Price(6'2") have good size.

Baylor has yet another really good WR in Terrance Williams (6-2/205) but I don' really see us going after a WR that high, if at all.

Witten wasn't a great blocker either when he came in, remember? Dan Campbell made Witten into a blocker. Phillips wasn't that great of a blocker either when he started. Martellius Bennett was the only TE we had that came in with excellant blocking skills from the get.

But this guy, along with Witten and Hannah... I'd be happy with that TE unit.

There are a couple of te's I really like. One is San Jose State's Ryan Otten, a sneaky fast TE in the Jason Witten mold.

He doesn't appear to move very fast, but next thing you know, he's caught a 20 yard, seam pass.

Carr will be a top 10 pick next year.

And he'll suck as much, if not more than his brother.

think Koy and Ty Detmer.

Ex NFL GM thinks Denard Robinson's position is at CB.

I saw someone talking about that, I'm thinking they are guessing. He probably hasn't played a meaningful snap at CB since his sophomore year of HS, if ever. He doesn't seem physical enough to tackle anyone. I see him as a slot WR and return man like a Julian Edelman kind of player. I get that he's an athlete and CB's tend to be your most athletic players but there's a mentality needed and a ton of technical skills that have to be learned.

Yes, Gil Brandt is guessing.

I thought that was a weird position to peg him at too. I think he was just trying to wow people with it.

WR probably is his best position as he knows about zone-read coverages and all that from playing QB.

Anyone watching Baylor/UCLA? Chance to check out Terrance Williams if you haven't seen him yet.

Oh, and Mora is a giant douche.

Edit, I should've said Seastrunk. Baylor laying a beating on UCLA.

I went back and watched Hunt. Reminds me of a white Julius Peppers. I wanted Chance Warmack (OG) in the worse way, but I think I'm on the Hunt bandwagon. I'd call it a pretty good draft if we landed Hunt in the 1st and maybe Alvin Bailey (OG) Arkansas in the 3rd.
