Only thing Costa has over Gurode is that he can make the line calls better? That's a fucking lot to have over a fellow C.

You are obsessed with this for some reason. You still never answered the question the other day about why its so critical for a team's center to make all the line calls. Is there some disadvantage to a guard or tackle making line calls?

Blocking ability >>> ability to make line calls as fyi

1st off, you're dumb. 2nd, with Kosier now at RG that's 2 players Free has to hear the line calls over, not to mention the TE who lines up on the left side to pick up the blitz. Now think about if we were in a hostile environment in the playoffs and how the crowd noise will affect the left side's reaction to the audible.

If there wasn't an advantage to centers making linecalls, then why does every team in the NFL have their centers make line calls?

Who gives a flying fuck who the fucking Giants lost.. I don't care if they lose their WHOLE starting offense and defense.

This a blow to Dallas and that sucks.

They dont though, and thats one of my points. Other teams have guards make line calls, or depending on the situation sometimes its a shared line call system. This also happens alot when teams start young players at C.

centers make the calls because they are in the center and it just works better for communication. He is farther ahead than all the other linemen too so they can all see him and his gestures, whereas with say the RG making calls the left side of the line has a little disadvantage. What exactly the center is responsible for calling varies from team to team.

Who makes the calls is not really a big deal, as long as they are smart enough to. IOW, no coach is going to start someone who is significantly worse at actual blocking just because he makes the right calls more often than the other. All the linemen are communicating with each other either way.

Much ado about nothing, if Gurode is benched or moved it will be because someone is better than him.

Thats definitely an exaggeration. We're pretty deep at both ILB and OLB. We're deep at QB. We're deep at RB, we're deep at TE. I;d say we're fairly strong on the DL in terms of numbers. If all 3 main guys are healthy, we're pretty good at CB.

I'll give you TE and QB.

CB goes deeper than 3... Our depth at RB is questionable. ILB also unproven. OLB... Butler. Thats it. Hello safety. WR = horrid. OT is laughable. DL, quantity doesn't mean quality.

Can somebody substantiate the rumor that Gurode does not make the line calls, I have yet to see this be proven.

The only thing I can remember is some article saying Kosier makes some of the line calls and nothing about Gurode struggling in this regard.

Substantiate how? As in, Garrett saying it? There are plenty of articles talking about how Kosier calls the line.
