Damn, is there a link to this, Theebs?

Oh well, Gurode is back at center. Hopefully Costa is back by the second or third game of the regular season.

Phil Costa's starting chance take hit with injury
August, 25, 2011

By Todd Archer
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Phil Costa’s chances of winning the Cowboys’ starting center spot took a hit because of a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

According to sources, he does not require surgery but he could miss 2-4 weeks, which would put his availability for the Sept. 11 season opener at the New York Jets in jeopardy. Costa did not practice Thursday after suffering the injury in Wednesday’s practice.

Before getting hurt Costa continued to work with the first team the last two weeks even with the return of Andre Gurode from June knee surgery. Coach Jason Garrett said Thursday discussions regarding who would start at center had not taken place yet but added he would like Costa could be in the mix.

It is possible Costa or Gurode could move to left guard and the other would remain a center, however, the Cowboys have liked how rookie seventh-round pick Bill Nagy has performed over the last two weeks at left guard. Nagy will make his second start of the preseason Saturday at Minnesota.

Undrafted rookie Kevin Kowalski replaced Costa as the second-team center Thursday and spent time after practice working with quarterback Jon Kitna on shotgun snaps.

Veteran guard Montrae Holland is expected to be back to practice next week after missing time with a back injury. He has stepped up his conditioning and rehab work the last few days, but he would have little time to get ready for the preseason finale on Sept. 1 at Miami.

Based on Garrett's statements today, I don't think he had a chance to start anyway.

I call bullshit on that. Costa has shown he can play the center position. What else does he have to prove?

Now that he's injured Gurode will be handed back the position. I'd give Costa the chance to win it back as soon as he's healthy.

If Costa doesn't get injured, Gurode would of lost his starting position to him anyway. Garrett's already said Costa is in the mix.

Proving he's better than Gurode would be a good place to start. If there actually was any competition, Garrett wouldn't be talking about it.

You're an idiot---and you are for plenty of reasons, if you think that Costa is going to come back after the season has started and take over from Gurode.

Shut up. Just shut. Costa is not better than Gurode. Only thing Costa has on Gurode is that he can make the line calls, and that's it. You werten't talking about Costa or really knew anything about him until just a week ago, if that.

I know you have a big mouth, but you think you capable of having both Phillips and Costa's dicks in your mouth, slow down? Slow down.

Can you debate a point without all of the silly name calling? I'm all for talking like adults but it seems you just say these things to sound tough.

Besides, cr122's mouth has no room for Phillips and sbk AND Costa. That's just not realistic.

This is why I have him on ignore, and why you should never quote him. I enjoy the forum much more when I can't see him blow up at everyone.

The problem with this is every injury will hurt us bcuz our depth at almost every position sucks.

We can't afford to lose anybody...

Thats definitely an exaggeration. We're pretty deep at both ILB and OLB. We're deep at QB. We're deep at RB, we're deep at TE. I;d say we're fairly strong on the DL in terms of numbers. If all 3 main guys are healthy, we're pretty good at CB.
