Good point theebs because jerry has that whole history of fiscal responsibility in his corner.

But he's like listening to his coaches more now and stuffs. Getting better in all facets. Gotta know that this coaching staff knows what it's doing. I mean you can't deny the results, amirite?

Also theebs... given Huff 2 mil a year, or 6 mil over three years is not at all overpaying.

I understand this point.

But the only year we have ever overpayed average players was 2006. That was Brian gaine taking over Bryan broaddus job and signing a bunch of outside free agents and then cut them all basically.

We were players in free agency big time last year, they have made it clear they will not pay big money for free agent lineman so there are really no positions where your dealing with the big money free agent, we have one in Carr.

The huff, Elam, Moore, Allen types of free agents we have generally been good with.

The only guy we really overpayed last year was Mack, but we may turn him into a starting center or see him improve and get two more seasons out of him so that may not be the case in the end.

so fiscally responsible or not they have been good with the mid level guys.

I bet the durant signing becomes another good one.

In general terms it may or may not be.

We don't know. They may have viewed him as an insurance policy against a young drafted player who they want to start in the fall. So giving money to huff would be crazy.

We don't know how much they even like huff.

Hell, we overpaid Doug Free. But, there is a long list of them before him.

Going all the way back to Roy Williams.

We also overpaid Livings. The Rams offered significantly less and his former team the Bengals, did not offer him anything at all.

If we gave Brodney Pool a dollar we overpaid him.

Overpaying and overdrafting. A recipe for disaster.

We paid him to be a starter, those other teams may not have especially cincy.

mid level guy who started 16 games and didn't cost a lot. Seems to be a good transaction to me. He wasn't terrible and he wasn't great. He wasn't paid like a pro bowler or a scrub, so it seems to be normal.

he started 16 games for the Bengals that year. If they didn't want to "pay him as a starter" and we did, what does that tell you?

$3.5M signing bonus plus $1M first year salary. Another $1.7M guaranteed in the 2nd year. $6.2M guaranteed for a 30-year old who's previous team wanted nothing to do with him. The definition of overpaid.

I'll refrain from being knee-jerk on this. If anyone has noticed, no one else has reported this, particularly in the Dallas media. I take what Schefter says with a handful of shit. However, I wouldn't be surprised by this shit.
If its not Glazer ignore is my rule..All the rest are simply guessing especially Frick & Frack at BSPN..

Jerry hinted he could be a backup because of his ability to play left tackle, which sounds like something a coach told him.

So I guess free is staying as the backup swing guy?

We're not turning his salary into a backup's.

Pay cut.

Nope. Same money, just more of it up front and guaranteed.

Time to bump all mid's old bitching about how other teams cut or make their overpaid players take pay cuts but we...

@clarencehilljr: A source close to Doug Free and a Cowboys source said his contract is not being restructured...

Still want to bump my threads/posts, superpunk?

:lol :lol :lol

My point still stands
idk maybe
