Not really. Tax Exemption was created for organizations dedicated to social welfare not limiting it to churches. Does it seem the government is sanctioning the NFL, which has until less than a year ago abused that non-profit designation? Not likely. And they probably only gave it up knowing how they intend to use their leverage like PayPal, etc. They can afford it.


All that digression aside, nothing changes the fact that it's not quite as sober as you'd put it, because many rights are being trampled in a lopsided fashion in furtherance of making people swallow all sorts of idiotic and cheap behavior. What PayPal and Co. are in fact doing are punishing people with different views.

Yeah. Arizona lost the opportunity to host what turned out to be the first Cowboys-Bills Super Bowl. Arizonia was de-selected. The game was moved to Pasadena.

I was a huge fan but the guy has gone off the cliff to the left and infused politics into his shows. I do think it's funny though that he talks about "high times on Wall Street, hard times on Main Street" while he charges $300 plus for a nosebleed ticket. These people are hypocrites.

Georgia had a similar bill that the governor vetoed... probably at least partly because the NFL threatened to not give them a Super Bowl in their new stadium.

I get cmd's point that businesses have the right to say where they will do business. But the whole threatening thing doesn't sit well with me. The NFL isn't a voter in Georgia. If the lawmakers there are representing the citizens who elected them, then who is the NFL to insert themselves into that political process.

Not to derail the thread, but I'd like to hear a decent explanation of how Wall Street is to blame for everything like the lefties (especially Bernie) claim. Other than the financial crisis bailouts, which were very expensive but very necessary, how are they causing hardships for everyone? And Quantitative Easing to Infinity has happened under Obama and the most politicized Fed in history.

So the real answer is, they aren't to blame. It's pure scapegoatism and jealously politics.

North Carolina has faced widespread outrage after passing a law that requires transgender people to use public restrooms based on the genders listed on their birth certificates, while also prohibiting new anti-discrimination protections for the LGBT community from being passed. Several companies and entertainers have already pledged to boycott North Carolina, and there's now one more to add to the list: the porn website xHamster, which is blocking users in the state from viewing porn until the controversial law is repealed.

"Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one. We will not standby and pump revenue into a system that promotes this type of garbage. We respect all sexualities and embrace them."

Boycotts have proven to be a popular form of protest against the legislation, with Bruce Springsteen recently canceling a concert in the state to protest the law and PayPal ending its plans to open a global operations center. But although the technique is often used for purposes such as copyright protection, denying users content in the United States as a form of political protest is something seen far less often.

I remember when the left used to insist that you could not legislate morality. Guess that was just a talking point and they really did not believe in it.

Also, these states need to show some balls. Tell these companies to go ahead and get the fuck out. Private enterprise will quickly fill the bill. An alternative to Paypal will arrive and be glad to take those profits and the NFL can always be watched on TV.

Young folks today have lived off their parents who have given them most everything they've needed to sustain themselves. This is all they know for the most part and they want the government to take their parents' place and provide for them as they get older.

They have no ambition and blame the wealthy for everything. Hey, I don't have money so you shouldn't have it either. It's pure socialism. I'm not wealthy by any means but I don't begrudge folks from earning wealth so long as it's done legally through the fruits of their labor.
