Brady Quinn hit the nail on the head with the Parsons pick. He said most of the time there are only 2 LBs on the field now and having LVE and Smith, then taking Parsons means someone will be sitting most of the time. He also pointed out the Cowboys biggest problems on defense were pass related and getting a pass rush or coverage guys was much more important than taking a LB, even one as good as Parsons.

I was under the impression, Dan Quinn was going to fix this defense and the problems LVE and Jaylon Smith had were related to the complexity of Nolan's system. Are we changing that tune now? If we going into 2021 with the roster of DTs and CBs we have now, even with Parson's, do we really expect to see a better result?

I want to assume the Cowboys were stuck at 12 and couldn't move down further and get the right price.

LVE will be fine if he is healthy (a significant if) but J Smith looked hopelessly washed up most of 2019 and virtually all of 2020. I am not sure what Dan Quinn or any other coordinator can do to fix his lack of having a healthy leg. He just cant change direction or run fast anymore.

Yes, its likely only 2 LB's will be on the field most downs, but not if you cant stop the run and teams constantly have 2nd and 3 or 3rd and 1.

Maybe you or some others don't consider Parsons a cornerstone defensive player, or one of the elite (if not the elite) defensive players in the draft. But the Cowboys apparently had him rated that way and didn't believe they could get him or someone of equal (or at least close) ability by moving down. I don't know of anyone that thought there were more than 15 or so "real" first rd graded players, maybe 18 tops. If you move down too far you are settling for lesser talent on a team that desperately needs a talent infusion (at all 3 levels)

Jerry Jones just said Cedrick who?when he all but assured Micah that he would get his number of choice.

He stripped Cedrick Wilson’s #11 from him to give to Micah Parsons saying “what negotiations” when asked about the number swap

How do you know that though? The Bears have made the playoffs 2 of the last 3 yrs, and they haven't had a losing record since 2017. Dalton is every bit as good as Trubisky (probably better, even at this stage of his career) and the Bears have a good team around him. Its not that far fetched that they could win 8-10 games again. It's a crapshoot.
While it's not exactly 100 percent fact based, there's another reason it's possible. Out of the three quarterbacks taken last night who are expected right now to sit at the start of the season (Fields, Mac Jones and Lance), the way this league tends to run, at least one of them will be starting within 6 games when their team goes off the rails. And with the Bears as the one of the three with a new starter and Nagy on the hot seat they'd have to be the favorites. Like I said, not fact based, just another thought.

According to Cowboys insider Clarence Hill Jr., Jones has pretty much assured Parsons that he’ll get to wear No. 11 with his team. To that end, he’s not going to let Wilson even negotiate with Parsons.

I just saw a stat that Trevor Lawrence has never experienced a regular season loss in his entire life.

Not in high school and not in college. This kid is about to have a rude awaking in September

So we have made 9 picks so far and not one single safety

Cuz fuck the safety position is the Cowboys way of life

But we did take a WR instead. So there’s that
