We're gonna probably add more free gent starters than the last several seasons combined this year. They know what the issues are and for the first time in quite some time, have cap flexibility to do something about it.

And they did try to add one major impact player last year, but we got outbid by quite a bit by the Eagles for the guy. So it isnt like they made no effort.

Its doubtful we could have signed all of them. Maybe one or two of them.

Joeseph was going for around Nnamdi money and the others were cheap pickups.

You have to factor in the money in opting for

Jonathan joeseph over Newman
Cullen Jenkins(1 year deal) over spears and/or hatcher
Waters/Mathis instead of $3/8m for kosier who looks done

Another thing to consider. JPP, tuck, Cole, and babin dont appear to be going away any time soon

Now I am with you on Jonathan Joseph, but Jenkins and the rest... nah. What has Jenkins done this season? I'd rather have Calais Campbell this upcoming offseason.

Unless he gives them a hometown discount and signs an extension before free agency starts, there's a chance. Slapping the Franchise Tag on him means Dwight Freeney/Jared Allen money. The Franchise Tag does not know the difference between a 4-3 and 3-4 DE. The Cardinals just shelled out big bucks for Kolb and Fitzgerald and are notoriously stingy.

If most of our fanbase is drooling over Laurent you can imagine how hard Arizona is going to try to keep him.


Great players can always shake loose, but it's usually after a few tagged years, or mitigating circumstances like Rice, flacco, and Grubbs all being up for a deal in 1 year

Nicks looks even better than Evans so I'd imagine NO knows what they have to do to protect their franchise.

Oh I agree, NA didnt look very good this year anyway, and he's older too.

If we were going to spend the bucks for a CB, J Joseph would have made more sense IMO

I just can't see Nicks getting away from NO. You don't think the Saints know how important the interior pocket is for Brees? I know they have Brees to pay and already payed Evans but they have more than enough cap space to retain him.

I have a feeling Campbell, Grubbs and Nicks all resign. 26 year old pro bowlers don't just leave via FA.

EDIT: I know the new CBA rules changed it to 4 years instead of 6 for UFA but still...
